It does not ‘control the Mediterranean’ it could control access or egress if required, but look at the number of countries that back up to the Med, in the same way that Turkey controls access to the Black Sea or Crimea controls access to Azov. The Black Sea is surrounded by countries who do not do as either Turkeyor Russia determines, similarly with Ukraine on its West, Russia would not control Azov. That changes if Russia controls all surrounding land…

When Russian ships sail from Sevastopol through the Black Sea and into the East Mediterranean prior to sending cruise missiles into Syria or wherever, I’m sure at the back of their mind they will be thinking ‘but Gibraltar controls this sea’…..

well, for a start they actually sat in the Black Sea when firing many of those cruise missiles aimed at Syria

secondly, we've always let their Northern Fleet ships through Gibraltar (and the English Channel, for what its worth since we are talking about global choke-points) in order to get into the Med

but by all means, keep banging this ridiculous drum of yours

That depends on who's propaganda you read and find believable. Lots of US publications stating the US are lagging behind and that their defence systems are vulnerable to to the hypersonic missiles both China and Russia have in service. But then they could both just be showing computer mock ups and deep fake video,who knows...until maybe it's too late.

The ABM program is quite mature and has several successful tests. That's all public info. Hop off the "news" sites and start reading the actual test documentation.

I have been in the military. Specifically the US Navy. A member of the strategic navigation community, which I am sure you will know is who operate and maintain all of the strategic navigation equipment that provide the inputs to the missile fire control system that is used to launch the Trident C-4 and D-5 nuclear missiles. I was also onboard the boat the did the proof of concept op that led to the first 4 Ohio class boats being converted to SSGN's to comply with those pesky nuclear weapon reduction treaties.

I also had a stint in the Naval Special Warfare community (not as an operator, I am not quite that crazy to do that) and time as a submarine instructor.

More recently, I was working for the engineering company who service the RNZN, which included performance trials for the new Sea Ceptor missile systems installed on the two ANZAC frigates.

I have talked enough with several members to know that they are genuine. There are a lot of easy tells when someone is faking, and I would be willing to bet a whole dollar as to their service.
