...we lack tempo. When he plays Davies gives us a bit more tempo, he tries to exploit the space beyond the opposition.

I think Davies should be starting on a regular basis for exactly the reason you just stated. There's too much sameness in our lineups recently. Davies offers something different than the others. I'm not saying he's a perfect footballer, but we need players who do different things well, and most importantly his mentality is to go forward, and he has the ability to pull it off enough to make him invaluable to this team, IMO.
Case in point. If no one ever looks to play quick balls through in the final third (or rarely), players stop looking to make those runs and the whole thing just stops in it's tracks.
His dink into Oumar last night was as sublime as the finish. But the one word that comes to mind when I think of Davies is "energy". He just exudes it and I believe his teammates feed off it.
And @Eggs
If you watch the third goal again, as soon as Davies gets the ball, Niasse is backing into position and calling for the ball - Tom delivered and Oumar finished, that kind of thing doesn't happen by accident does it ?![]()
Another 2-3 years learning from Besic and this lad might actually make it.
Just to check ... we are referring to oumar in the same context as the word footballers ?..absolutely, Andy. A forward will certainly know the players who have the ability and vision to find them. Niasse appears to peel off his marker to make space for the pass. Footballers on the same wavelength.
