This is how it could end up

Ah that's how it works, sorry your right, we are clearly all calling for someone worse, whilst you want someone better. Hadn't thought of looking at it like that.
We are saved!!!!

Ok where have I said that? You're the one that seems terrified of change and are willing to just settle for what we've got now, better the devil we know etc...

Going to leave this now as I'm struggling to understand why people want Kenwright to remain in charge, I really can't see one positive he brings.

The only difference between us and one of these clubs that have got into real financial trouble is two bad seasons in a row.

If Moyes took us to 17th rather than 7th then we'd lose £10m worth of income (as a minimum). That would mean selling a top player without replacing them. If we repeated that finish the next season then our income would be even lower and we'd be in fire sale territory.

In the 13 years Bill has been running the show we have massively fallen behind our rival clubs in terms of non-guaranteed income.

We are so reliant on Moyes it is scary.

This, this, this.

Stability on the footballing side.

He knows that if we gets to involved in that side of things, it will be seen as his failiure so he's very hands off in terms of changing managers and in terms of dictating to those managers.

The way he's brought in intelligent footballing people and allowed them to basically run the club for him is what us allows us to overperform financially.

The problem is that he's essentially sold us to moyes, in that moyes can do whatever he likes without fear and we have to put up with his attitude and his wages and his weaknesses. It's no different from what people suspect has happened with green and the financial side. We're in thrall to an outside agent.

But in terms of a footballing strategy it's better than others. There is no other english football club to spend less than us on the first team in the last eleven years and remain in the top flight all that time.

A man who'd do better at generating income than kenwright would be an improvement, but one who wouldn't and took a less hand off approach would be worse.

What gets me though is that certain people think we'll suddenly become this sustainable, well run business model because of it. It's piss and vinegar and we'll continue to haemorrhage money until Boy's Pen Bill sells up and f*cks off.

Delightfully put...

I don't understand where people get this idea that wages are going to suddenly swallow £30m a season. This increase is far greater than any previous TV rights increase, so looking to the past and saying 'it happened before' doesn't work.

£30m is £567,000 a week in extra wages. It's madness to suggest that's all just going to disappear into costs. There will be plenty of spare cash for transfers for at least the next two seasons.

Besides, from 2013-2014 any club with a wage bill over £52m will only be allowed to increase it by £4m a season. The only way you can get around that is by using money not from the Premier League deals, which we are poor at anyway.

Our wage bill in 2010/11 was £58m, so those sanctions apply to us.

That's a torpedo of a post rusty. (y)

.

When you say 'footballing people' do you just mean moyes ? As im not sure who else is at the club that fits that criteria .

I'll also say I hear a lot that moyes has 'absolute control' on transfers and I think historically he probably did , well certainly a lot of influence rather than absolute. I will say and this is not speculation that a couple of years ago moyes approved a loan deal for an established premier league player , this deal had no loan fee but a agent's 'facilitation fee' (due because the agent had negotiated down the loaning club who initially wanted a fee and dropped their wages contribution massively ) . Moyes agreed the deal only for the deal to be pulled at boardroom level so much so moyes contacted the agents to apologise.

I think moyes has massive influence even control at the club but as I understand it it's not 'total'.

Ok, so those of you know me on here know that I live in Brighton. I want to tell you what I did on Monday, my cousin is a Tranmere Rovers fan and they played Portsmouth. I haven't seen him for a while so I decided to make the short trip to Fratton and have a few pints with him and watch the game.

A few weeks ago I admit I came on here having a go at Kenwright etc the usual blah but after an Afternoon in the company of Portsmouth Football Club I have changed my mind. Not long ago they were getting taken over, decent money spent, won the FA Cup etc etc now look at them!

I couldn't even pay by debit card for a match ticket (£20) they wanted cash in hand! No ale in the ground (although there is a roof on the visitors section these days) boys it was grim, I didn't recognise a single one of their players and they were very very poor although Tranmere weren't any better.

All I wanted to get across was I would sooner have Bill in charge than end up like Portsmouth it was sad to see "Wrexham on a Tuesday night" for them, however I'm concerned over any takeover now.

I was reading a few quotes from Colin Fitz the other day saying how fed up he has become with the overall apathy from the fan base to ermmm "Get involved" and how tiresome it has become to continue to point out the same fundimental factual issues to the fan base. On the other hand if KEIOC had not been proactive on the Kirkby thing we could have all had our own pogo stick to bounce down to Kirkby and back instead of waiting under the one bus stop roof to get home.

Round, Sheedy, Weir etc. Our coachs and scouts and the like.

I was distinguishing between our set up and how it works at places like liverpool and lyon, where executives and the like do some of the scouting, and judging of players.

Fair point. That's a telling story, like.

The worst thing about the whole 'Davie has control of transfers at the club completely' is that it shifts the blame for selling our best players off Kenwright.

Exactly. There is room for improvement without doubt, but I think many people are assuming a massive instant change in our fortunes. Its highly possible very little will change but just having the AGM's bought back in would be improvemen.

I still don't understand why they don't make a sort of amendment that they can only be held at most twice a year orsomething. if they were scared of them calling every week, well surely twice yearly is better than none in four years?

Having no AGM is just giving ammunition to the Kenwright haters

Better to face the detractors rather than hide. Makes the board look like cowards

Bloody Hell, even Arsene Wenger faced the wolves head on at the Arsenal AGM. That took some sack, I'll give him that

It,s a shame that the GOT Admin team continue to allow posters to use polarized descriptions of their members when most posters have just pointed out the failures over a decade.

I have no problem with being called a Kenwright hater.

I have a problem when the forum gatekeepers call for civilised debate but then standby and watch the contributors polarize the debate with underserved lables on their membership.
