Struck me as very “my dad is bigger than your dad” playground stuff …. Lot said on here about protecting people in the Southport thread … who’s also protecting people from these thick bar stewards. ? Some of the things said were abhorrent.
Isn't this the logical outcome of the American system though? Small government which ultimately leads to an every man for himself mentality. Succeed and the rewards are great, fail and you get left behind.
It fosters people becoming isolated from the plight of others as long as they themselves get ahead, and if they can't get ahead, make sure that the others further down the chain can't get above you.
Trump has very successfully tapped into that by creating several bogeymen - it is the immigrants fault you can't succeed, it is the woke's fault you can't succeed, it is the cost of clean energy that means you can't succeed. Hear that often enough and you don't have to look inward as to why you can't succeed - you have the perfect patsy.
How to solve that is of course the big issue. Trump has made a career out of lying and being outwardly nasty - politicians usually bend the truth or cherry pick rather than outright lie. They usually disguise their malice rather than wear it on their sleeve. It is a new type of politic and needs a new type of solution. What that is, I don't know, but I just hope that the US is not so far gone in 4 years time that it is too late to find the solution.

The problem was not shoving their accomplishments down people's throats the way Trump takes credit for things he didn't do if people seem to like it. People have literally voted away things that benefited them that were done by Democrats in the belief that Democrats don't do anything for them. The Democrats made a mess of the messaging, the candidates were fine.
For example Harris should have gone on Joe Rogan and ripped apart the many lies Trump told while Rogan was saying 'wowwww' for 2hrs.
Most of all, Americans themselves should be ashamed for being so gullible. It is so easy these days to check if what you are being told is true or not, how your representatives voted, what bills they introduced etc. but they didn't.
Court transcripts of the 'stolen election' fraud are publicly available to clearly see it was all BS from Trump and his team but 4 years later many still think it was stolen. That's on the voters, not the democrats. Even some republicans tried to tell them.
