I dont understand how so many people in a country can be so blind. Like The tik tok thing. He takes it away and then gives it back and gets praised for it. Would be just like he steals your money, then the next day he returns it and people would love him for giving them the money back, forgetting or ignoring that he took it in the first place.

I'm not an advocate of forcing people back to the office full-time (it has to meet workers lifestyle).

But it is a major factor why the high street, pubs etc, are dying and why the you can't get hold of anyone via the council.

The high streets and pubs are in a long decline regardless. I read an article a while back, arguing that we need to rethink how town centre space is used. The high streets weren’t always there but people seem to think they need preserved at all costs,

Most high streets are grim. Businesses rise and fall depending on the trends of the time. Can’t justify propping them up by forcing people to spend their money there.

Controversial opinion: the people voting for Trump aren't doing it because they are stupid. Of course, plenty are. They can try but mine and many other local authorities like some forward thinking private business were quick to release office space and now off the balance sheet, the space is gone sold and redeveloped. 400 seats and desks over two sites replaced with 90 hot desking seats. Will cost my Local Authority hundreds of millions alone to put us all back in offices. Ain't going to happen with any conviction.

You make a mistake in thinking they care one iota whether poor kids eat in the first place. My state is in the process of trying to push through voucher system so well to do parents can take their child’s portion of public school funding and put it towards private school so they won’t even have to interact with these untouchable poors.
