I did read somewhere that we NEED immigrants because the dole gravy train makes many low paid jobs unfillable plus the NHS would collapse. Admittedly it sounds absolutely **** management but there it is.

The east european men look like they're straight out of a POW camp, skin and bone with shaved heads and as ugly as sin, however the women are fit as, so it's a fair trade off for me.

It's all a big con mate, perpetrated by gutless Governments....

They can't work for **** all, there's a National Minimum Wage. It applies to everyone...

English people on benefits don't take the jobs. You can carry on with the prejudiced nonsense based on nothing but stereotyping and stupidity, but I've worked in the sector and I can guarantee that because the benefit system is so close to the lower end of the pay scale, Brits don't take up low paid jobs, and they have to be filled by migrants.

That is now £6.19 an hour, minimum wage (that website is out of date and reflects the 2010 minimum wage). British people don't take it, and that's reflected nationally in similar jobs, because benefits are so close to that income when Housing Benefit and Council Tax Credit is taken on board.

But people refuse to listen as it's easier to be prejudiced. Saddens me.

We joined the EEC when we were a bit of a basket case and needed free trade. We are so far removed from where we were in the early 70's, we are reformed, successful and no longer the sick man of Europe. Trade barriers have been lifted and the main reason for the EEC / EU is no longer key. We are now just ending up with all the bad stuff from membership and it's costing an absolute fortune. We do not need Europe, it's holding us back, we should just grow a pair and say it was nice to know you, we will still be friends but it's no longer for us. We'll be fine, the EU will fall apart........

Bollocks. There is zero chance of that happening. It is necessary to pool resources in this global age, no matter how uncomfortable it may be sometimes.

Why do you keep bringing the debate back to prejudice. It has nothing to do with it, it's economics.

They are wonderful people. But they send money home and not spend it here. If we all sent money abroad the country would be completely fckd.

Firstly I'm sure there are just as many migrants that don't send money home as do.

Secondly these folks still have to live, so spend plenty here, they just don't buy the unneccesary crap that many of us do.

Thirdly, it's their money, who are we to tell them how to spend it? My (Czech) missus laughs at how much the English waste on booze/fags/ready meals, but hey, it's their money, they can waste it in whatever way they see fit.

Who said anything about Britannia ruling the waves. We are a small nation who massively outperforms for our size. We have a tradition of being able to trade and actually we are quite good at it. Why are people afraid of doing what we have done for generations and standing on our own two feet.......
