The UK in the EU

Having open boarders is extremely good for an economy, people come here and take jobs that others find undesirable, this increases the amount of money circulating within our economy. The alternative is those jobs are sent overseas, which means that our economy wouldn't see as much of a benefit.

The problem we have is our welfare state is too accessible to those who don't need it so you get people coming from poor EU countries with relatively poorer welfare states to the UK where they know that the government will provide them with a better standard of living. And do you know who funds it? You (providing you pay income tax).

No! That doesn't happen! Habitual Residency Test etc. It's a complete myth that EU migrants claim benefits en masse, it just doesn't happen.

How does having people come into the UK to do jobs that could be done by our own people increase the money in the economy, is this the economics of Gordon Brown you quote.......

Because our own people won't do those jobs - and that isn't scaremongering, it's absolute, 100% fact.

You mentioned farms - you show me a sizeable portion of the UK population who would forego Housing Benefit, Council Tax Credit and Jobseekers Allowance just to work 40 hours a week on a farm and earn approx. £80 extra a month.

Once again, the proof:

I can tell you for absolute certain that English people by and large do not apply for that job, although it's well advertised. It is filled almost exclusively by foreigners - not because the agency won't take on English, it's because the English by and large won't take it. Simple as that.

If the English took the job, there'd be no need for foreign migrants. But the economy doesn't work that way.

The part where they don't send ALL of it home, and their full income is taxed, and they spend money living in the UK which benefits our economy, as well as the products and services they create also adding to our economy.

What part of that do YOU not understand???

If UK people did the jobs, probably ALL of the money would be spent here. Did you ever explain how farm jobs would be exported by the way........

I never said it happens en masse (it certainly does happen though).

Hahahaha, and you called me naive. We give the jobs to foreigners to keep the wages down. If the lower end jobs were hard to fill then the wages would go up. That is the reality......

Said this a few times lad.

The English wouldn't fill those jobs whilst the benefit system remains as it is. And I'm not an evil Tory saying that - I'm a Labour man through and through, but after working in the sector I can't ignore the obvious.

Think about it - free rent via Housing Benefit, council tax is paid for and a living allowance, or for a pittance extra you work 40 hours a week.

No wonder so many UK Nationals choose benefits instead of low-paid jobs!

True enough but surely we're better off fixing the benefits system than bringing foriegners in, after all 30 years from now we'll have a bunch of second generations who will probably just scrounge the benefits the same as the English will, and then we'll bring in more immigrants and it repeats?

He'll get it eventually.......

Absolute bull****.

I agree that some of us are lazy as ****, but most unemployed people in england want to find work but can't. Businesses employ eastern europeans because they work for **** all and it makes better business sense. So you can take the piss out of people and write it like dey tuk r jubz lolololol, but its a fact.

We need tighter immigration laws especially within the EU. Left wing right wing whatever, how people can't see that is beyond me. Its not racist, its not xenophobic, its called looking after our own people.

Personally I couldn't give a **** if Igor can't feed his family in the hills of romania. Not my ****ing problem and I shouldn't have to pay for it.

???

Are people just not reading what I'm saying?

I've said that at least six times. At least.

And the post you're quoting says it too!

I hate to say this, but exactly. This is an economic argument not a racial argument. Labour would do anything except push people into work, so they opened up the jobs Market to everyone and spun a line, but it's costing us as a nation a fortune and storing up trouble and cost for the future......

I did read somewhere that we NEED immigrants because the dole gravy train makes many low paid jobs unfillable plus the NHS would collapse. Admittedly it sounds absolutely **** management but there it is.

The east european men look like they're straight out of a POW camp, skin and bone with shaved heads and as ugly as sin, however the women are fit as, so it's a fair trade off for me.

Why do people have to take it from one extreme to the other? The people on here who are saying we should be stricter on immigration and free movement within the EU arnt saying we don't need immigrants at all ffs.

I am kind of prejudiced I admit. I deal with a lot of eastern europeans on a day to day basis and most of them are cocks.

Personal experiences shape us. Its not my fault they've come across like that.

And I guarantee when I sat in the departure lounge at Prague airport amongst all the pissed up lads on their way home from a drunken weekend, they no doubt felt exactly the same.
