The UK in the EU

We joined the EEC when we were a bit of a basket case and needed free trade. We are so far removed from where we were in the early 70's, we are reformed, successful and no longer the sick man of Europe. Trade barriers have been lifted and the main reason for the EEC / EU is no longer key. We are now just ending up with all the bad stuff from membership and it's costing an absolute fortune. We do not need Europe, it's holding us back, we should just grow a pair and say it was nice to know you, we will still be friends but it's no longer for us. We'll be fine, the EU will fall apart........

They benefit the economy by taking jobs that wouldn't be filled, thus paying tax and allowing industries to sell products made in the UK for export and domestic consumption.

if you not british i think you have to have worked for a year, before being able to claim out of work benefits dont you? cant remember exactly off top of me head

As far as I'm concerned we have enough unemployment as it is (yes I no dey took r jubz lololololol) but its true. We need to stop offering cheap labour to eastern euopeans and start employing our own, although I know from a business point of view it doesn't make sense. Solution: stop free movement. Force companies to take on british citizens in the lower paid jobs. Have a criteria for skilled jobs needed from other countries. Only let those people in.

Australia is doing just grand. We are not.

its no cheaper(unless your talking bout off the books illegal employment) theres been cases of employers needing employment and only there not being british people going for the jobs available

There's a job open for anyone who wants it in Skelmersdale.

It's filled by nine EU migrants to every one English person due to the fact that the English would by and large rather sit on their arse on a comfortable benefit system (Housing Benefit means rent is paid for, combined with Council Tax and general benefits it means they earn a living doing nothing) whilst the migrants aren't entitled to those benefits for a long, long time and come here solely to work.

It's not about "forcing" companies, it's about making English people take those jobs.

Bruce is right - the welfare system at the lowest levels for lazy people (not the genuine cases) is at fault, not migration. Without the EU, our economy would be well and truly screwed. So when you say "stop free movement" and "we have enough unemployment" then it's hard to take you seriously as your views are rooted in prejudice, rather than fact.

Not even then. It's not set in stone - they can be granted residency and have it removed at the drop of a hat.

It's amazing how the "DEY TOOK OUR JOBZ" brigade and the "SPONGING FORENERS" mob don't know basic facts about migration.

I am kind of prejudiced I admit. I deal with a lot of eastern europeans on a day to day basis and most of them are cocks.

Personal experiences shape us. Its not my fault they've come across like that.

Sorry mate but that is complete rubbish.....

Fair enough. I had a job a while back that dealt with them so I know what you mean. But I don't hate them, as I've seen the majority of them working hard, cashing their cheques and sending the money home to loved ones, going months and months on end without seeing their wives just to make sure they can buy food back home. I have nothing but respect for those people.

It's not. The lower end of our economy which relies on migrant work would collapse, whole industries would move abroad. It's not a wild conspiracy theory what I just said; it's common fact. Even the Tories and UKIP admit it.

interesting, all the ones ive might have been fine(well 90%) guess it comes down to personal experience.. and the women are a good laugh!(altho a bit scary..)

They are wonderful people. But they send money home and not spend it here. If we all sent money abroad the country would be completely fckd.

No it wouldn't. The 'lower end' as you put it has always existed and was always filled. Just because there are more migrants now does not mean that we could not exist without them. It's a cruel con being perpetrated on the UK unemployed......

That's not how it works! All of their income is subject to taxation, and the products they make and the industries they support mean massive amounts to our economy.

They also have to eat whilst they're here, use our financial services etc. so they help local economies where they exist. It's called tertiary effect.

Nonsense, pure nonsense, based on nothing.

I've worked in the sector - English people have no inclination to work. If they left, the English people would stay on lower-end benefits comfy on Housing Benefit/CTC/JSA/ESA.

1 English to every 9 Foreign applicants, easiest job in the world to get. Says it all.

If we decided to stop every low-skilled EU national coming here now, businesses and industries would leave in droves.

Again, I am sorry, but that is exactly how it works. Money needs to be spent here so that it is recirculated through our economy. If we all spent our money abroad the country would be screwed. Simple economics.....

Oh my...

So EU workers don't get taxed and don't eat, drink & pay rent then???

Prejudice blinds people to the obvious. You're either wilfully disregarding the obvious or fundamentally naive on the subject.
