Anichebe is needed i think he could really play well this season if given a run of games

Really?

That's nearly 10% of the seasons league fixtures

Our problem is the players seem sh*t scared of playing that final ball and as a result leave it too long or cock it up. Noticed it numerous times during the WBA game and many times since.

We could also do with a fast striker who can drop deep and wide when needed and play football with our quality players and can also ping one from outside the box when teams are too hard to break down. We need Daniel fecking Sturridge, come to think of it, ffs.

But yeah, 3 points and an extra time win out of Norwich, West Brom, Stevenage and Cardiff is poor, so no, it is not working at present. Teams know exactly how to play us and are reaping the rewards so far.

The fact we've had loads of possession is barely anything to do with how we're playing, it's to do with how teams are setting up against us. They don't want the ball in our half as long as the scores are level. Anyone can see that.

If we get that final ball right on a few more occasions and whoever up front decides they want to get their act together and slot, we could do well.

If ever there was proof that having loads of the ball has meant precisely [Poor language removed] all to us this season, it's that.

We have more possession, defence is looking good, we're passing the ball around much better, but struggling to score, we were struggling to score last season, Moyes fixed this in a way by throwing Fellaini upfront, Moyes left us with a terrible strikeforce to be fair. Cant see Martinez wanting to play Fellaini upfront so lets hurry up and sell him and get what we need in asap.

in the future it will reap dividens, especially when we get back to europe. You won't see us rolling over for teams like fiorentina/lisbon/benfica regardless of the match situation. You will see us go to those places and confidently stroke the ball around, keeping their fans quiet and taking the sting out of games.

it will be the same when we visit the bigger grounds in england (places where we had no success under our last manager) and you will see us get victories which has possibly been the difference between regular top 4 challenges over the last couple of years.

we just need a more mobile centre mid partnership than osman and fellaini and an actual goalscorer. martinez can only work with what he's been given, he can't change the whole squad, but he needs patience from the fans.

the odd bit of mixing it up wouldn't go amiss, but it will benefit us in the long run i believe

I don't really subscribe to this idea that we've only got decent possession by knocking the ball around our back four. Yes we've passed the ball more in our own half than previously but to me it's seems like we've also had plenty of possession in the oppos half, moving it around looking to unlock the defence. We just haven't had the key to unlock the door to use the cliche.

Also the possession in our own half is for a reason. It's to tempt the opposition out of their 18 yard box and give us some space in behind. We need to do that more effectively and then break more quickly when we've done it, then we'll see the benefit.

Possession without an end product means absolutely jack ****.

We've not won a league game yet & have only scored in 1 of them.

So is it working? the answer so far has to be - no.

Some people will only be happy when we're back to Jagielka and Distin belting it a mile in the air downfield. They just can't help themselves, it's like the football equivalent to withdrawal effects. Let's hope a few more weeks of Moyes detoxification brings them back into mainstream life.

Did you actually see us play last season?

I want us to do whatever has us winning football matches mate and I'm not convinced our Tikki-Crapper style will achieve that.

In fact, very few teams have used that style to great success

The goal should be, in my opinion, to combine direct play and pressing play, ala Germany. Spain and Barca are great with this style, but they have much better players than most other teams
