You clearly post without reading. I said 2 ago that I'd take Hart and Vorm ahead of him. All my Liverpool mates say they would take Howard over Reina. Schezney maybe. Cech, God no. He is poor now.

Just out of interest, how many we talking here? Because all of mine rate him amongst the very best in the world and would laugh at that tbh. (I'd agree with them FWIW)

Howard's a good keeper, no more, no less. He's not world class but he;s good enough. Hart, De Gea, Reina, Vorm, Szczesny, Cech and QPR new boy Julio Cesar would all get a game ahead of him though IMO.

My old coach was an ex-liverpool academy player. We still get together to watch the games, and he brings his fellow kopite friends. Maybe they just prefer Howard because he's American, and we all live in the states. I'd say about 4 are Brits though and most prefer Howard.

The word, "all" may have been an exaggeration.

Howard > Cesar all day, and I'm not even a Howard fan.

You will soon find out how average Cesar is, when a lofted cross comes in and he sh*ts himself.

Just looked at your username and realised your from the States.

There tends to be a massive amount of 'tinted-glasses' amongst fans from the states when it comes to American players.

Sigh. It just never fails does it.

And your glasses point towards European bias. It's understandable. I'm just saying Timmy's credentials speak for themselves. I've posted on another thread, but I'll list em quick again.

1. Best XI in the prem when with United (ie Keeper of the year in the prem)
2. Golden Gloves at Confederations Cup ahead of Casillas and Ceasar
3. IFFHS top 10 keepers in the world 3 times
4. IFFHS best keepers of the 21st century #17 voted in 2011.

The people who handout those honors don't have glasses on of any kind....well maybe to correct their vision.

Hey, I didn't know all this - thanks!!!!

I would gladly swap Howard with either Hart, Vorm or Krul. Straight swap, no cash add-ons (or WH Smith vouchers, whatever Kenwright has in his pocket) .. other than those three .. urrrh, no thanks. esp. that gobby cone head across the park.

How about Butland -- seems to get good press.

There must be quite a lot of keepers on the continent who would be able to make it in the prem.....the catch is that they are untested in this league and with Moyes I imagine he would go for a current English league keeper to replace howard down the track.

Just been reading some Lewis holtby interviews from a couple of weeks back.

Seems very happy at shalke for the last year of his contract. Has got the No.10 role and CL football. Doesn't seem to have any intention of staying past this season and wants PL football.

Pretty sure we can rule him out for this transfer window. Maybe on a free next summer tho..

Too much money whilst he has proved nothing yet. I cant see that happening.

Howard is a weird goalie. Just when you think you are at your wits end with him he has a blinder of a game. He makes far too many mistakes from long range though. Other than that he is fine.

I would say his level and our level is about matched.

I would have Lindegaard myself if we are wanting a good young keeper.

I'll be gutted if we spend 5m on a reserve left back (Oviedo) when there are other areas of the squad that need improving...
