Just looked at your username and realised your from the States.
There tends to be a massive amount of 'tinted-glasses' amongst fans from the states when it comes to American players.
Stereotype much?

And your glasses point towards European bias. It's understandable. I'm just saying Timmy's credentials speak for themselves. I've posted on another thread, but I'll list em quick again.
1. Best XI in the prem when with United
2. Golden Gloves at Confederations Cup ahead of Casillas and Ceasar
3. IFFHS top 10 keepers in the world 3 times
4. IFFHS best keepers of the 21st century #17 voted in 2011.
The people who handout those honors don't have glasses on of any kind....well maybe to correct their vision.
Didn't he get dropped to give Roy Carroll a chance?
Really? That's what you're coming back with. That he was benched for a game or two when he was like 22. As I said before, his credentials speak for themselves. And they weren't handed out by an American with bias tinted glasses. Try harder, or lets get back on the real topic of the thread.
Wasn't he dropped during his second season and only made like 3 appearances afterward?
United wouldn't of sold him if he was first-team, goalkeepers are rare to come by.
We're having a discussion about the goalkeeping position in a thread which talks about the possibility of players joining and replacing current players.
I found it 'erratic' that you said that you would have Howard over some of the PL's best goalkeepers.
I would have Howard over some of the top keepers because Howard is a top keeper. Yes, top goalkeepers are hard to come by, but United signed Van der Sar, possibly the best keeper in the world for his part. Few if any would have won that spot. Clubs don't keep two top keepers at a time. Howard needed to play so they loaned him to us, and then we bought him. Maybe I value Howard more than you do because I do watch him play for the States. His strengths are highlighted more for the US when we play top teams because he literally keeps us in games against teams like Argentina and Spain. Sometimes he even wins us those games when we have no other business doing so.
Roy Carroll was played ahead of Howard.
Anyway, on his day - Tim is one of the best.
But his 'days' are getting rarer and rarer.
He's no Nigel Martyn.

Agree to disagree. You must have those Euro tinted glasses on![]()
The first sentence is a fact, you can't disagree with it.
He struggled in his second season after a brilliant first. I'll give you that. De Gea was benched last year too. Lucky for him Van der Sar is about 65 years old. I'm really tired of this debate. Can we move on, and just accept that we're not going to agree on the issue?
It's nice to see that you're mature enough to acknowledge when you're wrong and step down from a discussion.
I'll keep going if you wish. I just think there's better things to talk about. I listed Howard's honors and you came back with he was benched once in his second season. Let's continue if you think we must.
Benched once and didn't play again for year.
All that I'm saying is - Tim Howard is probably the 6th best goalkeeper in the PL.
If someone was to prop up like Hart, Cech, Reina or Sczeszney then Tim would have to go or stay on the bench.
