not that I'm an inherently cynical [Poor language removed] or anything like that, but I find it ominous that so many WRs are tumbling in the pool, and by such margins.

You don't reckon those wily Chinese folk have shortened the pool by a foot or so, to make sure that the Beijing Olympics goes down as a biggy?

We are going the other teams a lesson in cycling today, just won the team sprint (men) effortless really, our 2 girls will contest the gold and silver in the 3k, we really are ass kickers in the velo !

When it comes to reduction of a pool, there is a story. By all accounts there was a Brit about 6 months ago that broke a commonwealth record but about 3 weeks later it got stripped from them as the pool was 4cm shorter than it was meant to be. I will try to find the report.

The swimming is down to the suits AND the pool, the pool is the correct lengh but is very very deep so any ripples are very low, also its the peak temperature for the swimmers (quite cold) the body reacts best at this temp (so the boffins say).

At the Canadian trials they banned all these new suits and everyone swam in their trunks so the best swimmer won and not the one with the most money.... the way the games should be IMO, the IOC should provide all swimmers with the same suits.

SOD that anyway.... Chris Hoy and co are beasts, Ive met hoy, hes like a weight lifter !

Wiggins will destroy anyone in his way.
