I’ve now asked many of you exactly how you have been affected personally, and so far nothing. Obviously loads of stories about kids eating wallpaper, but come on just one of you, how exactly have you been affected by this ‘running down of the country’……
Pete in keeping with the spirit of your question, please identify what we have gained, that has provided tangible benefit and improved the lives of the working population of this country ?

Say over the past 12 years.

Whataboutery regarding Corbyn is not a valid response.

In what way. She overpays her client base then expects the rest of the U.K. to pay for it. Her NHS is a shambles, her drug problem is a shambles, education is going down at a rate of knots, she is running out of money and just has a grievance strategy to maintain her base. Christ she can’t even build a couple of ships to service the Shetlands etc…
If Pete were taking about England here this would be presented as "doing a great job"

Interesting research here from Stanford on the issue of tax

These conditions lead to a new force affecting the optimal top tax rate: by slowing the creation of new ideas that drive aggregate GDP, top income taxation reduces everyone’s income, not just income at the top.

I wish they'd hurry up as they seem to be using each day to out [Poor language removed] each other

They should start with the people that wrote:

"The British are among the worst idlers in the world. We work among the lowest hours, we retire early and our productivity is poor. Whereas Indian children aspire to be doctors or businessmen, the British are more interested in football and pop music."

and

“Britain has …suffered from a diminished work ethic and a culture of excuses.”

get them sent for re-education!

recent spate of suicides/attempts (within a quarter mile, I'm not bothered about the bridge goin off, its the poor bastaard suffering and the associated impacts)
went my mates dads funeral, covid related, care home resident.
allergic to the news as its none stop food banks and crisis in hospitals and ambulances

at what point does any of this start to bother you?

We all suffered and continue to suffer through Covid. My wife is suffering a long term effect as a result. But I’d blame the Chinese wet markets or labs before any western governments including our own…

My kids have been massively affected, being unable to freely work or study in Europe.

Stuff we buy, for example, I could order a vinyl record (or anything else) from anywhere in the EU and the only difference from buying in the Uk was the postage and it would be delivered in days.

Now, duty applies, if the sender puts the wrong import code on the package it gets returned. Brilliant, guess what, UK prices have gone up as the European competition has been priced out.

Health care in Eurpoe, EHIC. Don’t tell me that the replacement is equivalent, it ain’t. Gone.

Certainty that my food complies to basic health and animal welfare standards. Gone.

The need for the water in rivers and seas to be safe to swim in. Gone.

Financial support for areas of deprivation, previously free of Tory political meddling. Gone.

The question has to be a wind up.

Sorry about the vinyl records, but ‘the water in rivers and seas to be safe to swim in, gone’ and ‘financial support’ using a small percentage of our own money is surely a wind up….

Kind of skipping a lot of important stuff there Pete. He answered your question, now answer his. What tangible advantages of Brexit have you reaped the benefit of so far?

Almost no difference for me apart from knowing that the U.K. government cannot blame the EU for its own failings and that the U.K. no longer has to adopt laws generated and approved by those outside of the U.K.

I’ve attached the following, some of which is fine and some of which is pure jingoism…

I kind of feel this is something that those who swallow the codswallop pumped out by the government might like to read

That CEO is all over the place, we’re ready (having had 6 years to prepare), it’s the fault of Brexit (having had 6 years to prepare) then it turns out the French frontier staff had turned up late and undermanned.…..
