In all seriousness it was regarded as the standard text on Churchill for decades. One of my favourite books (if you count both volumes as one book). Well worth a look.

I think the only thing that matters and is considered by the majority of the UK is that without Churchill we would surely have been a defeated nation - he was the right dog for the fight.

Might give it a go, however I take my lead from other countries and their reflections who he had influence over. You cant get out primary school in the UK without the pure glorification of him. Soon lead you into trouble these days in the modern world.
You would have to go some way into a history education to have real essence of the man and what he stood for.
Its something that needs addressing if the UK is going to be this internationalist country that is free trading, our recent imperial past is of great resentment and far from forgotten or forgiven as some have us believe.

I try not to use the term left as it encompasses alot of folk on here who also have common sense and rationality - I myself am centre but push left on certain aspects.

However there is a section of the left (who I deem far left) who are self righteous who think anyone who doesn't believe what they do or say is some uneducated oaf and they need pulling up just as much as those on the right especially when what they advocate is oftenc authoritarian thuggery.

Those on the beaches are idiots - but you CAN social distance 2m on a stretch of coastline - you can not jam packed in a standard road or pathway in a city.

I'm making the point because you also said I was far left a few days, and you were really quite wrong.

Chances are you've been wrong a fair few times with other posters. Just something to be aware of.
