So much for the Corbyn effect on voters. The little line of blaming him and the socialists for the demise of the party has just gone out of the window
Competence - thatls what Starmer would bring.

Well that's in tatters, so there's no need for that divvy anymore.

He’s a part, and was the start of the problem.

Labour has been on the slide since 2001 so he does take some of the blame.

People don’t trust the Labour Party and that’s largely down to Blair and the party in his image.

He last made an impact 20 years ago. The political landscape is completely different now, and a return to the Blair was of doing things isn’t working either.
You voted Tory.

He really isn't. Left wing people and parts of the media might tell people that but the average Joe en mass don't hate Blair.

He is the only leader to win an election in over 50 years, taking the party more to the centre whilst implementing huge socialist policies when in power.

But yeah.... he's the reason why Labour are now struggling. They were in the wilderness before and after him.

But yeah... its definitely his fault

I even suspect the 22% is generous.

Outside of that, my evidence is purely anecdotal just from people I speak to. Amongst friends he's the guy that introduced student debt which we'll be saddled with for the rest of our lives and of course Iraq will constantly be brought up.

To people I know on the other side of the political argument he opened the floodgates on immigration and did nothing for working people whilst he was in power. You can disagree on that because I do, but this is purely how I hear him being perceived.

I think a huge problem Labour has in these red wall seats now is that they remember 13 years of New Labour but they don't remember any positive changes that it brought. Did they feel their lives improved as a consequence of Blairism? I don't think they do.

Wake up fella. Not everyone who doesn’t subscribe to your warped view of the world is a tory.

As I say, I agree with a lot of what you’ve said in here regarding the recent results, yet you’re calling me a tory?

We’re on the same side. Attitudes like yours is what drives people away from the party.
You VOTED Tory in the Local Election thread!!!

FFS, you cant even lie straight.

I see the LP front bench have stayed quiet all day on twitter. The same people who pinned the 2019 defeat on Corbyn to save their own skins.

Own that defeat you 'kin cowards.
The call will go out to Blairites Cooper, Reeves, Hilary Benn to join the top team of Labour.

Lol. The 1990s tribute act rolls on.

Needs to do something , putting a remainer in as a candidate in the biggest leave seat , was amateur hour , saying theres not one on the front bench that didnt support remain.
That's about a third of people who voted labour and out wary already and even more former voters that didnt because of the ridiculous stance the party took in the last GE which Starmer was part of.
Needs to break it up and get some talent in there preferably not from anywhere near London .
The party membership is massive there has to be some hidden gems among the dross we have seen the last decade or so.
Last 2 leaders were not up to it and people knew it outside of the party , this fella is heading the same way .
Self inflicted wounds that we can do without ,if we ever want to get into power.

Corbyn wasn't a leader, but his instincts were to get out of the EU and to respect the referendum result. Just by adopting that policy at the last election we would not be here where we are today.

As for Starmer and his advisors: they chose a doctor who (never mind his attitude to Remain or Leave) advocated cutbacks in the hospital he himself worked in, which meant locals having to travel miles for treatment...and they never forgot it. THAT is decision making that completely damns the LP under Starmer on any number of levels.

Starmer is not even a politician. He's a Johnny-come-lately to front line politics - a careerist and in it for personal glory. He hasn't got a political instinct in him. He's touted as 'professional' and therefore a departure from Corbyn, but in reality he's more clueless than Corbyn as a leader...the fact he's taking advice from someone like Mandelson underlines that in spades.

The LP is done. A new party of the left is now a necessity.

People dont trust Labour in vast areas of the 'red wall' because they failed them on Brexit. Not Blair

Hahahahahah, yes thought it was funny to rile you. Petty on my part

Obviously, anyone can see from my posts that I wouldn’t vote tory.

Stop with the excuses. You didn't realise the poll was public view.

You are completely bankrupt here.
