You are going to get called far left as soon as you come up with any policies that would change people's lives for the better. Just ignore it and persuade people that you are right. Thatcher didn't transform the country by caring what anyone thought of her.

True. But what ever way you cut and paste it, her initial message was one that resonated with normal folk. Who were really really fed up.

Two quite simple things he could do, which would resonate with millions, post pandemic.
#1. Say he would ring fence the entire covid spend, remove it from the Govt accounts, and pay it back over decades, to allow future administrations to function in a more normal way.
#2. Say he would instruct HMRC to not pile into the recipients of the self employed support scheme, tax notwithstanding, to prove they should have had it. The questions they asked were so ambiguous to qualify, means they are equally as easy to disprove.

Drakeford is Labour's strongest asset in Wales. Ironic, really, because 18 months ago he was seen as something of a nonentity. One would imagine its because Drakeford is seen as competent, independently-minded and fair - the improvement over Carwyn Jones is considerable. Plus the Welsh Tories (in the Senedd at least) are a shower.
