Starmer carefully (forensic) dismantling Johnson hubris is the way forward. It would serve no purpose going in hard currently mid crisis, it would just galvanise flag waving nut jobs. The emotional gnashing of teeth can be left to us foot soldiers, or media as and when...

Starmer must be thrilled with the way things are panning out. Everyday feeding them a new length of rope to hang themselves with and nodding as they take it, knowing that the day of reckoning is just ahead. In many ways it couldn't have started better for him.

Boris Johnson couldn't have wished for an easier opposite, the man is the closest person you can get to nick clegg.

Look around trump Johnson macron merkel all of these people know how to hold their own in an argument.

Starmer is basically another blair

Tbf mate, looking at your posts its clear that a sensible approach when considering or analysing a topic that you involve yourself in is to look at whatever you type and understand that the truth will be the exact opposite x

Starmer needs to pick up the pace of criticism here, and start changing his tone.

It looks like the enfeebled lockdown has failed and that surely dictates that the opposition push the government to a situation where resignations are forced amongst Cabinet members dealing with this crisis.

Labour have to demand the sacking of HanCOCK at a minimum.

You wont get that by pushing the 'constructive criticism' line.

These Ministers are killng our people. The LP leader has to seize the moment and demand heads roll.

The overarching point being made was that, whatever the ubringing and schooling, Corbyn's path beyond that was marked by a commitment to equality and justice. Starmer's adulthood has been marked by a climb up the greasy pole, taking in an office where he sided with the state against the people.

And now you see how his time at the DPP was well used for someone now positioning himself as more Establishment than the Tories.

Hasn't landed a glove on those governing over a catastrophe before his eyes, and he wont in future either. His fealty is to the neo-liberal global order, not to normal every day people in this country. A Tory leading the Tory Second XI.

This has been a stumbling block of the Labour Party for the last 30-40 years, I don't envisage that changing anytime soon.

Looks to be working, this is the kind of headline labour needs, call it first phase, hearts and minds... A very nice slice of the patriotic pie. Expect the floating vote sycophancy of Johnson now start wain.

Agreed mate, he is a sharp fella. I feel that we are going see Labour prove to be the party to be beaten as opposed to also rans. Its going to be an interesting few years that's for sure.

We should focus our efforts on messaging the utter mess the Tories have made of this pandemic.
They shouldn’t. Everyone knows that the Tories have made a mess of this. When it’s relevant, by all means it should be mentioned.

What it can’t become is almost a part of the empty platitude list, as Corbyn had, where Grenfell and Windrush got crowbarred into every discussion to the point where the actual emotional weight and urgency behind them was utterly diminished.

last YouGov survey I sa , 1st May , reported 58% thinking the government were handling it very or somewhat well . Admittedly that was falling but taken at face value that poll doesn’t reflect your point .

More based on discussions that I’ve had etc, I think there was praise at the beginning but it’s turned very sharply.

The point still stands that having an opposition that is actually able to hold the government to task on individual policies, decisions etc. rather than creating a list of gripes which eventually becomes meaningless would be good.
