I wondered why he looked up to Corbyn.....

Cleese: ( In bowler hat, black jacket and pinstriped trousers) I look down on him (Indicates Barker) because I am upper-class.

Barker: (Pork-pie hat and raincoat) I look up to him (Cleese) because he is upper-class; but I look down on him (Corbett) because he is lower-class. I am middle-class

Corbett: (Cloth cap and muffler) I know my place. I look up to them both. But I don't look up to him (Barker) as much as I look up to him (Cleese), because he has got innate breeding.

Cleese: I have got innate breeding, but I have not got any money. So sometimes I look up (bends knees, does so) to him (Barker).

Barker: I still look up to him (Cleese) because although I have money, I am vulgar. But I am not as vulgar as him (Corbett) so I still look down on him (Corbett).

Corbett: I know my place. I look up to them both; but while I am poor, I am honest, industrious and trustworthy.
Had I the inclination, I could look down on them. But I don't.

Barker: We all know our place, but what do we get out of it?

Cleese: I get a feeling of superiority over them.

Barker: I get a feeling of inferiority from him, (Cleese), but a feeling of superiority over him (Corbett).

Corbett: I get a pain in the back of my neck.

Because Corbyn's elementary education didn't impact on him the same way. He drew the right conclusions from his experience and opposed exclusivity and fought for equality for the rest of his life.

Starmer became DPP criminalising 'benefit fraudsters' and ignoring calls to bring the police and army to justice. That's the cut of the man at the top of the LP. A Blairite scumbag who's currently handing the Tories a free hand to kill more of our people. Mr Establishment.

That’s a very squirmy way to get out of it. You either think it’s a problem or not, you can’t just change the goalposts to support your whiter than white hero.

I disagree with much of Starmer’s actions and, as I’ve said, he’s not as left as I would like. However it is intellectually and politically empty to just say ‘oh, it’s The Establishment, he’s Tory 2.0’.

It’s another form of argument that says Corbyn is as much to blame for The Tories as they themselves are.

It is a problem. So there's your definitive "non-squirmy" answer.

But Corbyn was a boy sent to school where he was sent. I dont think his parents professed to be socialists either.

They just happened to join the Labour Party, meet at a rally supporting the Spanish left and constantly reaffirm their beliefs to him as a youth (as per his brother) by accident then ?

And called him Keir.

I assumed that Dave was talking about Corbyns parents not being particularly socialist to ‘excuse’ him being raised in a manor and benefiting from a paid for education as a youth.

Not that it particularly matters mind. Poor people can be fascists, rich people can be socialists.

Oh. Thought he was on about Starmer. But like you say, it doesnt really matter does it?

Mr and Mrs Hitler were most likely rather agreeable.

The overarching point being made was that, whatever the ubringing and schooling, Corbyn's path beyond that was marked by a commitment to equality and justice. Starmer's adulthood has been marked by a climb up the greasy pole, taking in an office where he sided with the state against the people.

And now you see how his time at the DPP was well used for someone now positioning himself as more Establishment than the Tories.

Hasn't landed a glove on those governing over a catastrophe before his eyes, and he wont in future either. His fealty is to the neo-liberal global order, not to normal every day people in this country. A Tory leading the Tory Second XI.

They weren’t. His mum smothered him and his dad thought he was a disappointment. His dad also was around 40 and married when he first started going out with his mum, who was 16 at the time.

That’s one way of describing him I suppose......in Flash Gordon he was referred to as having ‘shown promise’ by Ming the Merciless......

Democratic socialism most certainly isn't dead. It holds many of the answers for today's and the coming problems facing hunanity.
Climate change, the ageing population, automation and rampant inequality all could be solved by socialism. Many people, especially among the young recognise this.

How does socialism solve an ageing population ?....

It's going to take a few decades before the UK population realises this.
