Why are people surprised that Sir Starmer actually looks ok as a leader after the joke of recent years. Expectations are on the floor for Labour and can only improve.

Starmer is plain, boring and safe - he isn't radical and won't take risks. He will obviously emerge from this crisis with more credibility - it's hard not too when you're basically following the government line and cherry picking major flaws which are obvious to everyone.

Because the overarching story line on here is that he will be found out to be a massive fraud who should be spat on daily.

An angry letter to the PM will resolve this all, obviously. Or do like Corbyn did and go after Priti Patel when it was becoming more evident this was going to be a global issue:

The fact that you equate that story about Patel to the slaughter of 32,000 (officially) of our people says it all about you

No Dave, the fact that you are demanding a leader go out and do something, without blaming his direct predecessor for not doing it at the start of it shows the kind of person you are.

Covid was kicking off and Corbyn was more interested in taking pot shots at Patel. Accomplice to murder who undermined lockdown efforts from day one by saying he wouldn’t stick to them.

Genuine question here: did Corbyn say anything about the Coronavirus in February/early March, and if so, what? Did he demand an early lockdown or anything? All I know is that his brother recently took part in an anti-lockdown demonstration (though without firearms, unlike his US counterparts).

The LP were calling for the tracking and testing in line with WHO recommendations; that alone would have saved thousands of lives.

Not really, it tended to be more about the financial implications. There were some really good early questions asked about PPE by Labour PMs, but it wasn’t made a focus by the leadership.

He constantly called for more spending on our NHS, so it would be prepared like other countries, however was denounced as somebody that wanted to spend more money than we could possibly afford. Because people brought into the idea that low tax and more money in their pockets was a good idea, look at the cost now, enjoy... :)

Big moment for Starmer coming up on this new "Stay Alert" BS.

The three devolved governments have already snubbed it and will keep the "Stay at Home" message front and centre.

Starmer needs to make it plain he supports their stance and that the LP urges people to stay at home apart for essential activities. If Starmer's Labour is behind the safety messaging of the NI, Scottish and Welsh assemblies, they are in danger of looking like reluctant partners of the Butcher Johnson Government.

Time to step up Starmer. Distinguish Labour from the Tories irresponsibility.

It was a demolition if your counting Labour's chances of being taken seriously any time soon. Why on Earth are Labour bothered about the messaging? The messaging is irrelevant as is evidenced from the pictures of public spaces before they even changed the stay at home nonsense. More and more are disregarding it including 2 Labour Liverpool City councillors pictured in the Echo today with their families present.

Surely, Sir Starmer should be pushing on the economics and getting things moving again. There is strong Tory support for that measure. He could get a parliamentary win in defeating the government on it. Yet sadly, he's plain, boring and safe as I said he was.
