Why do compare yourself and the British state with a random man or woman who happens to be Jewish and the state of Israel? As i said before, every single Jewish person I know is English/British, have never visted Israel and have as much connection to it as you or I do. They would condemn the BRITISH state when they think it's done wrong because they're BRITISH.

Its nonsense to say they should speak out, its like asking every Muslim to speak out againt the state of Saudi Arabia or every Christan to speak out againt whatever hell hole country with terrible human rights you want to name that also practices Christianity.

I hold all my ire for the state of Israel, not Jews (Israelis or otherwise). And to bring ISIS into it is moot. They are a terrorist group, outlawed by most world states. Israel is a legitimate state with diplomatic ties all around the world. It's our obligation to hold Nation states to a higher account than terrorist groups. Same goes for Palestine, I may add.

Not sure anyone would say killing innocents is right. And neither side in this seemingly eternal conflict has a clean pair of hands. By a mile. But it seems the sympathisers on both sides are happy to overlook "their" sides ill deeds, but amplify the other sides.

In the case of Israel and Palestine it is very much, ironically, a David and Goliath battle, Israel is a military behemoth backed fully by the west. And it uses that full force indiscriminately.

No I think Ron is saying that the fact that Israel is a legitimate nation state makes it even worse.

We have had experience of this where we come from, yet some people still have trouble distinguishing the difference between terrorism and the forces of the State turning its arms against its own people.

Quite the opposite. I'm saying a state should be held to a higher standard than terrorists. They're much worse because a state should act better. Both are of course abhorrent, though.

Zionism is a legitimate term to use when addressing a member of parliamnt in the Labour Frinds of Israel...they do take money off Israeli lobbyists working for the Israeli state...a state that has no problem with declaring itself Zionist.

My understanding is that zionism is simply a movement to have a country for Jewish people, so opposing it suggests that Israel does not deserve to exist. If you want to oppose the Israeli government and its actions, maybe use a different term as Zionist is widely regarded as an ethnic slur and not criticism of a foreign government.

No, that's completely untrue.

The word Zionism has been used over a hundred times on these forums in just the last year. Why are you NOW sensitive to its use?

Also - and just so we're all clear - are you now proscribing the use of the words "Zionist/Zionism" on these forums?
