“Rebecca Wilson, 29, is a fifth-generation sheep and arable farmer in Yorkshire. She is among the tens of thousands of agricultural workers up and down the country now grappling with the fallout.

“The Budget is a complete U-turn on what we were promised,” she says, citing Sir Keir Starmer’s 2023 speech at the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), when the now-Prime Minister pledged to forge “a new relationship with the countryside and farmers”. “Losing a farm is not like losing any other business, it can’t come back,” he said at the time.”

The man will say anything he believes his audience wants to hear, a liar and a charlatan…..
Another ‘farmer ‘ doing the media rounds this morning , talking about it’s directly targeted to those with small holdings and the rich are already protected . Generally bemoaning his lot and discussing how simple working farmers are being attacked . Just after he was on a financial analyst read back his figures and immediately identified that his property was worth a Minimum of £5m and likely more .

So this is another farmer in the top 2% of all farming lands and again crying on the unfairness. I can’t talk for anyone else but listening to the figures and their takes of woe pushing me further and further away from any sympathy, sympathy which I had a fair amount of at the start of this . Sadly I think most people just see a headline or a ‘shepherdess ‘ bemoaning the changes and assume they’re Close to poverty .

Here he is in Paris today on his latest jolly.

Odd that they celebrated the Armistice while World War 2 was still raging.

I would imagine it was a highly symbolic propaganda move, showing the rest of France/Europe/the world that Paris had been freed and the Nazis were in retreat back across the border, and that two of the allies in the earlier war against the same foe could now commemorate it there.

Farmers are not close to poverty, nor in the main are they Uber-rich. The value of a farm consists of a house, a myriad of outbuildings and sheds, state of the art farm equipment to cover all of the necessary tasks, and land. None of this is cheap. But what farms, not investment land owners, bring to the U.K. is security of food availability. Milliband is busily undermining our energy security, the last thing we need is the degradation of our farms every time there is an inheritance tax bill which the government will inevitably waste…..

Agreed. I’ve known a few farmers over time. They were all Tory brexiteers.

Again Pete 73% of farmers are unaffected, again I’ll say I could potentially be persuaded that farming should be treated as a special case . However an endless parade of spokespeople , I mean everyone I’ve heard challenged or googled it myself , are worth in excess of £5m often significantly more .

If this is a real problem it’d be lovely to hear from someone who wasn’t extremely rich , be that only in assets but it’s difficult not to assume that those most nervous about this are worth in excess of £5m and as I’ve said it’s difficult to raise much sympathy .

Look at the figures below , not to mention the first 3 won’t be impacted . It’s a vocal minority trying to spin this like a Zimbabwean style land grab .

once again I’ll reiterate if the only concern for these people is their farms and our nation , why don’t They sign it over to their children immediately?

I see that after his trip to France our travelling virtue-signalling PM is off to COP29, where no doubt he will commit more billions from money we don’t have. It’s noticeable that EU leaders and the USA aren’t bothering to go, but maybe they don’t need any more photo opportunities…….
