“ Angela Rayner spoke to JD Vance, the US vice president-elect, on Thursday in an effort to improve relations after she previously called Donald Trump a “buffoon”.

The Deputy Prime Minister said she discussed the “special relationship between our great countries” with Mr Vance in a telephone call the day after Mr Trump’s victory.

In a statement on X, she said that it was “good to speak” to Mr Vance and that the pair discussed “working together” in the future.

Four years ago, Ms Rayner described president-elect Trump as a “buffoon” who had “no place in the White House”.

She said that Mr Trump was an “embarrassment” during the pandemic and accused him of “killing thousands of Americans by giving them duff advice”.…..

Lammy is toast….

“ Donald Trump threw his support behind Britain’s efforts to keep the Chagos Islands when he was last US president, The Telegraph can disclose.

The US submitted a legal document backing the UK’s case that an international court should not interfere in the dispute over the islands’ sovereignty when Mr Trump was last in the White House.

The revelation is the clearest sign yet that Mr Trump could scupper Sir Keir Starmer’s deal announced last month to hand over control of the archipelago to Mauritius.

It has also emerged that Mike Pompeo, who was Mr Trump’s top diplomat when he was last in office, said at the time that UK control of one of the islands was essential to protect the US military base there.”……

“ In his first assessment of the Chancellor’s maiden Budget, Governor Andrew Bailey said a “substantial” increase in public spending and tax changes that “clearly raise the cost of employment” will drive prices higher over the next three years.”

…no kidding Sherlock…who could have seen that coming……

“Rebecca Wilson, 29, is a fifth-generation sheep and arable farmer in Yorkshire. She is among the tens of thousands of agricultural workers up and down the country now grappling with the fallout.

“The Budget is a complete U-turn on what we were promised,” she says, citing Sir Keir Starmer’s 2023 speech at the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), when the now-Prime Minister pledged to forge “a new relationship with the countryside and farmers”. “Losing a farm is not like losing any other business, it can’t come back,” he said at the time.”

The man will say anything he believes his audience wants to hear, a liar and a charlatan…..

It’s almost like all politicians are bad and each new iteration of them will make your life very marginally worse every time they get in

Is this actually all that new a thing?

I seem to recall most hospitals requiring patients, visitors, and staff to be well away from the buildings before lighting up.

It still applies mate, it’s just that a lot of the great unwashed chose to ignore it and some become aggressive when challenged.

It’s seems to he pretty rigorously enforced at Alder Hey, as a lot of the kids wards windows are directly at the front.
