Corbyn was never my cup of tea, but tbf he engaged with people and had wide support. He just had the wrong and wrong headed policies. A simple example was his stance on our nuclear deterrent Trident where he said we should still build them, at great cost, in order to preserve jobs but to not put any nuclear missiles on board. This would of course immediately negate having them built in the first place. Had he said he would scrap the whole programme and spend the money on other employment, I would still have disagreed with him but at least have understood the logic. It was muddle headed to say the least…..
Y'know I was very much in the 'ditch trident invest elsewhere camp'. But I don't think I truly appreciated the likelihood of Russia going full crazy crazy and going into Ukraine. It would have been a very bad move. Like it or not it probably buys us a lot of international sway and helps make Putin think twice.

Kinda the same narrative Truss continues to wheel out. The glorious future would have been achieved if only the blob hadn't foiled her. The markets were just as hostile to him as they were to Truss.

Not really Bruce - I mean, for a start the right wing press loudly backed Truss at the time, praising what she wanted to do. I think it was Alliser Heath (of the Telegraph) who said that budget was the greatest budget he'd ever heard.

I also rather think that the markets would probably react less badly, if not positively, to a genuinely socialist government (or at least one that cleaned up outsourcing, contracting, PFI and all that jazz).

To be fair, which you're obviously not Starmer has been the Architect of the Tory fall from grace him and his team have quite brilliantly highlighted every tory mistake/ grift and lie. Throughout Covid he has tore to shreds Johnson, who has now become a joke figure, Truss and Sunak and he has put Labour back as a credible force again, for the first time in decades.

Looking at the newspaper front pages the Daily Express has front page headlines about Abbott and Labour splits between their hierarchy. Didn't see very much about yet another tory MP defecting to Labour, did you.

They've been embraced by business and the media because they represent a safe pair of hands for Toryism to survive while the official lot sort themselves out.

This election is no choice. Starmer's lot have tried on the clothes of the Tories and they'll get in because they'll - apparently - be disciplined and regain credibility for the political process...which is what business and the civil service wants.

That's all there is to see here. There's nothing other than smashing their own membership and moving rightwards toward the Tory ground to see here. And EVERYONE knows it.

The left wing/ Socialist don't win elections, look at our history, look around the World open you're eyes, you need power to change things, maybe it's not you're cup of tea but me I am sick to the back teeth of the last 14 years of corruption, lies, grifting and austerity.

Our Country's services sold to the highest bidder, we own nothing and we wonder why we pay so high for our water, electricity, gas, next it's the Royal Mail. So you can take you're constant sniping, cut and paste jobs and continue holding you're nose and shove them right up you're hoop. I'm voting Labour !
Go and take a look at any previous LP manifesto that's returned a Labour Government...even, partially speaking, including Blair's lot.

They were well to the left of what Corbyn was promising to do, and they got in.

Dont try and re-write history to suit your support for a right wing 'Labour' leadership.

Indeed. Carrying a big stick always has a deterrent effect……

There goes his ‘authority’ out of the window…Rayner Rules OK……

….difficult one as well for the Tory’s. I saw one Conservative on BBC saying she’s being treated despicably by Starmer and deserves to stand so I expect it’ll be tough for them to now say he got it wrong.

I expect it’ll take a while to purge the lefties but he might just do it, slowly but surely.

You think that's a good thing for the long term of the party? To rid it completely of the left?

Tories and the right wing press loved ridiculing her when she was more prominent, now they're jumping on this wagon. I mean, she has been treated appallingly, but it's all a bit comedically hypocritical from the Torys
