Just thought I'd chime in here and say that I'm made up that we've signed him.

It was a bit dicey there for a while. But job done. Intriging to me his versatility he can play a midfield as well. Can't wait to see after the international break.

Does anyone think that the fact so many of his international team mates play in england helped him sign. Particularary those two gits across the park. I mean in terms of comfort and lifestyle change.

Some cracking goals in there, scored with both feet as well. Time will tell but picking up a 25 y/o Holland international with almost 50 caps for £6m is a hell of a find.

Not saying he did score alot of goals for us in a season, but you could certainly expect at least 5~6 goals in the league.

It would really depend on how Moyes used him, if he let him take some free-kick and cut into middle & run down the line in attack, we could expect him score more goals than that.

Seeing the way he could bend the ball in free-kick and shots I did expect him to be a pretty good in crossing the ball, Yaks, Saha, Cahill, Fellaini, Distin, Yobo & Jagielka are going to benefit from these extra crosses coming in from the right.

Probably bullshit, but this piece claims that Heitinga is now on over £55k a week, and is our top earner. I didn't think we paid more than £40k.

Following the completion of his 6 million pound move from Atletico Madrid to Everton, Dutch defender John Heitinga is now the highest paid player at Everton.

According to David Anderson in the Daily Mirror: "Johnny Heitinga has become the best-paid player in Everton’s history after completing his £6million switch from Atletico Madrid. Heitinga was on over £40,000-a-week NET at Atletico and his salary is understood to surpass the £55,000-a-week paid to previous top earner Mikel Arteta."

Reports in Spain yesterday morning had suggested that Heitinga had rejected a move to Goodison Park as he was unhappy with the personal terms on offer.

Heitinga agreed a five-year contract with the Toffees and has immediately returned to the Holland squad for their upcoming international matches against Japan (friendly) and Scotland (World Cup qualifier).

The 25-year-old former Ajax defender will wear the Everton number five shirt previously worn by Joleon Lescott.

If he wanted 40k net of tax then his base pay would have to be on around that. Indeed according to income tax calcualator I just used, if his base pay was £55,000 a week he'd be taking home £32,571 a week after tax, quite a drop from his desired take home salary.

It could be time to bite the bullet and look at how we can achieve raises for all our high-end players.

I suspect there are a good many things to weigh up as I suspect the modern player has a good few additional income channels above their basic pay.

I kinda doubt it to be honest. There maybe clauses like goal bonuses etc that could add to his wages, but I believe a few players will probably have that.

But if he is on £55k a week he has to be playing 1st team football because I think we cant afford to have him sitting on the bench if his wages are correct.

Hopefully it wont turn the club into a money grabbing free for all because its true.

I actually only think Arteta, Yakubu and possibly Cahill really have a case at the moment for wage parity if they were going to be insistent about it. Can't see Cahill making a fuss personally.

The other two are worth it, lets be honest. Pienaar hasn't earned it in my eyes but he does deserve a contract in the 40's based on what is becoming a long period of consistant performances.

He didn't want to leave Atletico - his club forced it on him. Earning nearer £60,000 pw than £50,000 is no compensation for that. No wonder he's so glum.
