Not really. I am a believer in the Union, however if Scotland or NI really wish to be independent then they should be allowed to become so, no arguments from me.....
Just the move by Scotland and Northern Ireland towards Nationalism. Brexit both unpopular in both Countries and an increased mandate for Independence in Scotland and Unionism in Northern Ireland.

Eh ?

Nationalists won more seats than Unionists yesterday for the first time in NI since its creation 100 years ago.
Sorry I meant Nationalism. I've honestly had about 3 hours sleep and driven about 400 miles today. But genuinely surprised to see even places like Larne, Carrick, Newtonabbey vote squeezed and Belfast North and South go the way they have.

as has been said a few times, there was a democratic vote about whether FPTP should be kept or replaced. The people overwhelmingly voted to keep it.

At that point there was a real risk of the BNP and UKIP getting a voice in parliament. It was bound to play a part in the result, if that referendum occurred another time when just the traditional parties had a realistic chance then there may have been a different answer.

Another aspect that should be acknowledged: I worked on that ‘Yes to AV’ campaign during that referendum. It was honestly a complete farce. The people at the top of the campaign didn’t have a clue and the whole operation was complete chaos.

I honestly believe the poor quality of the campaign probably cost it a fair few votes.

There's always a risk that possibility could return...we surely can't keep changing the way people vote depending on current political climate.

Used to be plenty of those Pete not so many today .
What would you honestly prefer? An MP who acts according to what he/she or somebody else interprets is the ‘will’ of the people at any given time?

Or an MP who has publicly declared the values and beliefs that guide them and uses those, along with their judgement and experience to make decisions on what they judge are the best interests of the community?

Of course you can't but when you look to first implement something and immediately there is a massive downside that will come because of your vote it doesn't help. If you get a clean start and then something happens later as a consequence it's just something that can happen.
