It’s amazing how much of an echo chamber or bubble some people obviously live in. So many posts from people who just don’t seem to grasp that not everybody is passionate about politics or up on their current affairs. I spoke to a work colleague yesterday who openly admitted that she didn’t actually know who she’d voted for. She’d voted because her husband told her she should, she just stuck an x in the box and walked out. It’s far more common than some of you seem to realise.

So long as people like that end up voting randomly, it'll make no difference though.

Admittedly, if they all go for the first name on the ballot paper, then, assuming they're alphabetical, then there's something to be said for choosing candidates like Alan Aardvark.

We need proportional representation , the system is a joke.
100%. PR is much more democratic. Every vote counts even in constituencies where one candidate is a cert to top the poll.

How long is the UK going to continue with a situation where 100% of the people are governed by around 40% of those who voted ? Labour should have introduced it when they were in government because the tories never will.

as has been said a few times, there was a democratic vote about whether FPTP should be kept or replaced. The people overwhelmingly voted to keep it.

More needs to be done to get people engaged for the sake of democracy. There was literally nothing to do with politics on the curriculum when I was at school. Hopefully it´s changed now but I really doubt it.

I am pleased to see the back of a whole host of MP’s, the arrogant and disloyal, those that believed they knew better than their voters....well enjoy your retirement from Politics and it’s comfy money....

‘The idea of Boris in charge scares the crap out of me’

Care to tell us what mental gymnastics you’ve had to undergo in the last few years to change your mind about him. Reckon it’s just his stance on brexit tbh. You’ve compromised your morals

It was driven by Nick Clegg who was deeply unpopular at the time. That had a big influence on the vote. I can't see that being put back to the people for a long time.

I think he’ll be a good PM, I think he will win over even more Labour supporters.....

No I’m not saying it affects the result. I’m just commenting on all the people who are acting as if the average person on the street fact checks what they’ve read in the paper or knows the details of a party’s manifesto. They really don’t.
