Far right hate groups are using genetic ancestry tests (GAT) and finding some funny results. This was something we did informally in my "Anthropological Genetics" class, but now it has been systematically studied. Two sociologists studied how people reacted to GATs on stormfront.org (our class also used this website). What was perhaps most astounding was how some posters would turn on others when a member revealed that through a GAT they had, say, 17% Native American Blood. They were lambasted and their ancestors were called "race mixers" etc.

The response from FadingLight (01-01-16) was quick and harsh:

I've prepared you a drink. It's 61% pure water. The rest is potassium cyanide. I assume you have no objections to drinking it. (You might need to stir it first since anyone can see at a glance that it isn't pure water.) Cyanide isn't water, and YOU are not White.

Hello, Has anyone received their DNA result from saliva DNA test?
I received my results today, and I am 58% European, 29% Native American and 13% Middle Eastern.
I am pretty sure Middle Eastern is Caucasian too, as well as European, so it means I am 71% Caucasian?

I am pretty sure you are NOT 100% pure either. Good luck with your DNA test, if you are North American, you will be surprised how much Native American DNA you have.

The problem is that it was reported as a 'free speech' rally, and obviously no one who wasn't there hasn't a clue. So to the rest of the USA and the World, 40,000 people or whatever the number was (15,000 I read) turned up to protest, against what was apparently a small number of attendees. So for the world to see there has been a protest against free speech....I thought this picture shows just how strange the argument has gone ...

Suggesting that the South, who I imagine fought for the USA in WW2, are somehow NAZI's. The rhetoric in this debate has gone way beyond rational behaviour and is taking normally, one supposes, nice people into areas that they really shouldn't be going......this is no way to win an argument surely, whatever the support........

Not really. We have some pretty odious people in the UK spouting all sorts of rabble rousing rubbish. But, and it's a big but, either we have free speech or we do not. It's what sets us apart from Russia, China etc. It would have been much better to leave these loons to their rally, on their own, completely ignored, than to turn up and give them the oxygen of free publicity , world wide news reports and allow Russia et al to use such incidents as proof of the West's intolerance. This is a shot in the foot. So far we have seen violence, the pulling down of Statues and now a protest against free speech. Of course this isn't how it really was (or is it) but that is how the rest of the world is seeing it. This is stupid and stupid big time......

We are on the same side here, but the argument is being lost. If this 40,000 or whatever the number create any kind of trouble with the Police then the moral high ground will disappear, as will popular support. I'm not arguing against opposition, merely the daft way it's being done......

Or you could argue that it has brought into the limelight the fact that these rallies actually happen, and are happening partly due to a recent presidential change. It's also highlighted the presidents ineptitude in dealing with or acknowledging the problem.

Also, I think it's important for the world to see the absolute defiance the majority of people are prepared to show towards such hateful ideology.
