Not least because "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"

By their very nature a lot of the protests are about government (both local and national) which can be very uncomfortable for those in power, if they have much more control of what is "accepted" as a form of speech who is to say they would not be tempted to abuse it?

I doubt I trust Sessions/Trump's judgement on say a Black Liver Matter demo than a conservative would have trusted Obama.
good point!

I understand, the trouble would be where the line gets drawn.

I just can't fathom how people can harbor such hatred in their hearts. And to be willing to drive your car purposefully into people speaks to a depravity I don't want to comprehend.

This really.

Left, Right, Black, White, Islam, Christian Jew or Hindu.

*other religions/races are available on request*

Just dont get how you can hate a random stranger cos they dont agree with you. But then perhaps I am not a warped human being.

In terms of the ideology - they've been raised from their early childhood to believe in it, their descendants for more than a few generations back believed and enforced it, and its repeatedly reinforced by the media that they choose to consume (of which Fox really is the most tolerant and balanced). There is also a long history of attacks like this that are deliberately designed to terrorize / cow others - from the murders carried out by that Roof loser, to Oklahoma City, to the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, right down to all those lynchings down the years.

The only real parallel to it that I can think of is what the Spartans used to do to the helots, which perhaps explains the modern-day cult of Sparta over there.

To what extent has the mass change on what is considered socially acceptable had on events like this? Realistically years ago social perceptions took years, decades to change, for example the black rights movements, decriminalisation of homosexuality etc. Nowadays it just seems that someone decides on Twitter that you have to have a transsexual best mate and find the work of Roald Dahl to be anti-feminist and if you don't agree then you are worse than Hitler.

Obviously, I'm not talking about the pond life, knuckle dragging, white is right brigade but there must be people caught up in that kind of nonsense simply as they can't process what society is pushing on them to accept as normal nowadays.

Any video from any American protest looks like it's straight from a playground. Always childish, now some idiots taken it too far.

I see no parallel between the antifa folks and the French Underground. That is, unless you believe to your socks that Trump = Hitler and the Nazis aren't those Brians and Marks marching around with Tiki torches, they're the National Guard. If that's your position, I understand why you would make that analogy.

I disagree. In the world of antifa, fascists = whatever we're fighting today. The killer was an American too, an American Nazi pinhead, but still an American. American justice will deal with him, and will do so swiftly I hope. He's certainly not covered the cause in glory or made himself into Ohio's Horst Wessel. My view is that the first thing a postmodernist/nihilist antifa backed government would do would look exactly like fascism to most of the folks it gets done to.

There's no glory for anyone in this. There are no good guys. None. This is what tribalism always comes to. Time to watch some footy.

What does "postmodern" mean to you, Mezzrow?

No rush... just wondering. Enjoy your footy first!

Just about what it means to Jordan Peterson, abe. He's much more clear and thorough in explaining it than I could be, and you know I'm right about that. I could attach a video or two. :D

Oh. Jordan Peterson again. That's a bit disappointing. So nothing then about "postmodernist government," then? Just "we should restore the sexual morality of the Victorian age" ?

I find him so distasteful, not because of anything he says necessarily, but how he conducts himself. Total disregard for professional ethics.

There's no accounting for taste. He's a dangerous man, to be sure.
