What the hell do bike locks to the head have to do with Nazi salutes??!! Other than it causing them brain damage I can't see how anyone can be forced into a Nazi march unless they embrace the views!

I don't find it at all hard to condemn political violence whoever it is who is doing it and neither do I excuse it by claiming others actions/beliefs forced you into it. Everyone has a choice as to how they react and I also happen to believe that non-violent protests are not only morally superior but as a practical matter are more effective at persuasion.
I agree but the bike lock reference is to what "antifascists" used on people at a free speech rally. No swastikas in sight.

I don't know how these guys do it. It's either impressive obfuscation or must take a lot of strength to fight off the cognitive dissonance.

First, it was just the Left calling everyone they disagreed a fascist. But then it turned out those people actually were fascists, carrying Nazi flags around and calling for an ethno-state. However, they weren't fascist to begin with. They just became fascists because they got called it.

Don't you just hate that. You're in town having a coffee in Pret, next minute someone calls you a fascist and before you know it you're goose-stepping up and down Church Street shouting 1488!

TBH they really aren't fascists (though they have a cretinry which apes fascism and nazism) - after all, the Confederacy predates fascism by about seventy years and its that flag which outnumbers the Nazi flag at all of these events.

In fact its telling that the term "fascist" carries many more negative connotations in modern society than "confederate" does, even though I'd wager fascism (in the Italian context at least) has considerably less blood on its hands.

I disagree. I think many of them are fascist. I think to idealise/aspire for a white ethno-state where non-whites are peacefully removed (how on earth could it be peaceful...???), where you constantly refer to members of the LGBTQ community as degenerates, where you peddle anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and use actual propaganda from Nazi Germany, then you'd have to be fascistic.

Edit: I misread your post, sorry. I see your point.

I refer you back to my comment "I don't find it at all hard to condemn political violence whoever it is who is doing it"

But how does that attack end up "leading to today's events' as you stated??

Honestly at this point not sure I could be more confused if the bike lock had been applied to my own skull!
