The Crushing of Evertonian Spirits

It has been a sick joke no question. But things can turn around unexpectedly and fast. Ask any of us who were around at the time, how sh1te Howard's team were almost up to the moment of a misplaced pass one night at Oxford.

This time around, we need Moshiri to sort the board out of course and personally am looking forward to the huge party when fat4rse and entourage finally ship out. As far as the rs are concerned, they better hope they win the CL. Klopp is going to look like a sick joke himself if he adds another 'beaten finalist' medal to the 2 he's already 'won' across the park.

I agree to a point, things can turn around fairly quickly. But the team of 83 was trying to play intelligent football with some sense of style , even though it wasn't working. The same team that was booed off after 0-0 's against Coventry and Sunderland back in the day purely needed confidence. The bulk of the greatest team we've ever had was there, including Mr.Carter , Kendall and Harvey. This needs root and branch changes right from the board down to the coaching staff.

I really don't think I've felt at a lower ebb following this club. I know it's hyperbole but it's absolutely killing me tonight.

  • Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee in the dugout
  • A fortune spent on mediocre players who clearly have no pride in the club
  • No trophy in 23 years
  • No memorable performance over an entire season
  • No derby win since 2010
  • That lot tearing Europe apart
I know supporting a football club isn't about the glory but is there actually a team that's had a more depressing existence than us over recent times? Does anyone actually foresee it getting better any time soon or are we going to amble to 40+ points every season with boring wins against terrible teams?

This season just feels like a sick joke put together at our expense.

We're still in the premier league mate. If we get it right with player / manager / DOF recruitment over the summer, we start August 2018 with hope; and 2017/18 will be a distant (horrible) memory.

I think this is very likely, they have the determination and financial backing to progress next season.
I suspect they will at the very least be competing for the 'best of the rest' title next year

If they do I honestly think I'll lose interest in the game - atleast 7th gets you European football what would be the point of finishing 8th every season.

the pipes are calling danny boy and they're playing a lament...sunderland 2.0 us

Cannot see Wolves knocking us off our 'best of the rest' perch. We are a much bigger club than them in what really matters (i.e. a storied history) and even if they finish higher than us on the table, we will still be viewed as a giant of the English game.

I could cope if we had something to cling to and had our own project going. Instead we've got a bunch of dinosaurs pounding round the dugout who actually believe they're doing us all a favour.

Danny lad, I'd like to tell you that you could cling to hope...
...but as George Michael reminded us in his great song about Everton Football Club, Praying for Time:

And it's hard to love, there's so much to hate
Hanging on to hope when there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it's much, much too late
Well maybe we should all be praying for time

You're still a bit new to all this aren't you?
*taps side of nose
Word to the wise, just 'koff, sit quietly at the back, listen and learn and stop spoiling it for the rest of us, you'll eventually pick up the correct attitude as you go.

Leicester proved that with the right manager and a couple decent signings a bang average team can run away with this league. It's not all doom and gloom for me. We get the right manager in place and things can turn around in the snap of a finger.

Yes, yes, I know it was a one off, but this league is full of bang average sides.

How bang average? We're moribund and sitting at 8th...

What makes this particular season such a torment, is this was the one we were suppose to break into the top six. Last season, we were best of the rest by a fair margin. We were in Europe. We had Koeman. We had Moshiri. This was, at long last, going to be a season to celebrate.

Fast forward to April. We're 8th...again. We're playing disjointed, boring football...as usual. And the one thing that, at the beginning of the season, no Evertonian could ever imagine; we have Flim Flam Sam as our manager. You can argue that
" 8th isn't that bad" to anyone who wil listen, but when held up against everyone's expectations; this season is one of our most disappointing ever.
