And they continue to get away with it!

The tories failed to close our borders and protect us from Covid.
They failed the thousands of people in care homes leading to the needless deaths of many.
All the time they were handing out contracts to their friends and cronies at the cost of the tax payer.

They have now completely bungled brexit leading to what we are seeing at the moment… higher taxes, crippling inflation, fuel and food shortages, the loss of nhs services.

Where will it end. How long will it be until the country wakes up and forces these crooks out of office.

Looking in from the outside I get the distinct impression that nobody really cares about what is developing.
As long as they can go to the pub or the gym, fly off on holiday and the like, they dont seem very interested in the abysmal failure of the government.
If an election were to be held, I'm sure there would be no change.
I'm general the UK has a poorly educated and politically illiterate electorate. Just what right wing governments want.

A cabinet minister says if the public bought petrol as normal there would not be a problem and accuses a road haulage group of causing the "manufactured situation", claiming it was "desperate to have more European drivers undercutting British salaries".

I don’t get how these temp visa things would work. For starters, can’t imagine it’s that an attractive package if you’re an eu HGV driver I’d guess you’d have your pick of countries to work in unless the pay on offer here is insane, which would then likely [Poor language removed] resident drivers.
Also surely there must be safety implications and complications if they look to get in other drivers from other parts of the world.
Whole thing sounds like a totally useless endeavour.

It is, but that's what happens when you elect a government whose concern is being seen to be doing something, rather than actually doing something.

All my meetings from HMG got cancelled for yesterday. Normally have 3 on a Wednesday to discuss the October and January checks, but removed from calendar at the last minute There maybe something in this then; it’s an absolute mess how this has been handled. Not one small Port Health authority...

If Boris and his chums had a shred of common sense, they'd have allowed the visa's to run until the end of January.

It's clearly not a policy, just an attempt to regain control of the news cycle until the crisis gets worse.

This is a government that is governed by a pathological need just to be popular no matter the cost. It has no real skill at governing in a way that spots possible problems and takes mitigating actions to avoid them as early as possible.

I think part of the reason for that is that the govt have lied so much and gotten away with so much that the average guy in the street has given up really caring. It is just one thing after another, and that breeds apathy.
They also deliberately confused everyone about Covid rules, to the extent that no one took them seriously as they didn't make sense, therefore a lot of people decided to just follow their own rules and do what they thought was best for themselves.

I don't think the real issue is the political illiteracy, it is more the apathy that has been allowed to grow due to continual contempt by the govt.

I think "scum" is a bit strong and only contributes to the increasing polarisation of political debate. It's the sort of thing Trump would say. I don't expect it from the deputy leader of the Labour Party.
