Hard to say - general elections hinge on a relatively small group of shy Tories. They're shy for a reason, they know it's the scummy path - so pointing the bare truth of it out might not be such a bad thing?I think "scum" is a bit strong and only contributes to the increasing polarisation of political debate. It's the sort of thing Trump would say. I don't expect it from the deputy leader of the Labour Party.
Berks or oafs (my own favourite) would have been more appropriate.
It's not the most edifying way of energising the base but these are turbulent times - she's not slinging insults around that are way out of tune or uncalled for.
