Weren't the 70's issues (always blamed on Labour) a direct result of Tory economic policy somewhat ?
I couldn’t say for sure. It’s not an era I’m really familiar with. I wouldn’t have thought a U.K. political party has intentionally lost before though in order for the opposition to deal with the mess and ultimately get the blame for.
I guess others like @tsubaki know more about this.

Couple of my mates work in exports / imports. They reckon storage costs have doubled since Brexit. So that's one cost. Then there's the cost of shipping containers from places outside the EU - it's also rocketed. Then there's all the taxes on imports from the EU. More cost.
Now there's also labour shortages meaning we can't pick, process, or move stuff around.

I’m not sure people realise Talking Pubs wise co2 was a real problem and I mean there was none around another couple of weeks you weren’t getting draft ale , first time ever nobody was really lending anything which is unprecedented. the bail our story meant suddenly it was about , bottled beers are in short supply but which ones vary week to week . At this exact minute it’s mostly the house spirits vodka & gin, nothing fancy just your Smirnoff & Gordon’s. Places doing food regularly running out of basics , supermarket shelves a 1/4 empty it’s ridiculous . Pandemic panic buying aside for me it’s decades since we’ve seen anything like this , not sure it’s particularly likely to improve any time soon .
The Tories seem to think HGV drivers can be recruited and trained in two weeks and then be on the road. Cutting corners in HGV training. I’m not a HGV driver so Iv not idea how long it takes to be trained and qualified.
I certainly wouldn’t want to be on the road with a poorly trained HGV driver in the lane next to me.
The rich Tory mindset seems to be that “it’s just driving truck” therefore low skilled peasants work that anyone can do. So out of touch.
If I was younger I’d probably consider it as the pay now seems very attractive.

It’s almost as if they’ve no idea what they are doing.
A mate of mine has been waiting for ages, (at least 6 mths or more) for the HGV test he isn't due to go till November at the best, so cant see a very quick uptake happening any time soon.
On the plus side he has had a guarantee of a job as soon as he has the licence.
