It seems from my experience, that the DWP pension service in Newcastle are illegally withholding state pension payments for new claimants. This can only be on a particular directive to 'save money' so the public sector borrowing requirement looks 'good'. A absolute disgrace that is in line with the Tories hostile environment for all and sundry.

I very much doubt that is why new claimants are being delayed. For one, all DWP/DSS new payments are backdated to the correct date, be that a pension age, or date of original claim.

There is no covid workload issues in Newcastle (I've checked with the PCS union). People have been 'approved' 2 weeks ago and still not received their pension. This can only be because someone is blocking the notification of payment. Who and why? In the Gov.UK pension section they say you can't get a backdated claim after a year. So the DWP can hold out for a year, hence saving money for the here and now. Hence the Tories claiming the borrowing requirement isn't this or that amount this month, claiming a 'success' at the expense of new pension claimants.

Should have added, I've been waiting a week, since a manger at one of the pension offices told me my claim has been approved. And still no notification about how much and when it will be paid. Suspicious, certainly.

Cos they pay them every 4 weeks?
They've waited since May - their retirement date - and numerous, phone calls to the pension service - average wait on the phone 50 mins and was told 2 weeks ago their claim was approved.
My state pension date was July, I've made 4 phone calls - again 50 min wait on the phone - and was told on Monday by a manager - after I insisted I want to speak to one - that it was approved last Friday, after I phoned.
No wonder there's a 45 mins plus wait on the phone because of the amount of enquiries from people who've not received their pension new claims. Every month the government is 'saving' millions by the DWP office in Newcastle not approving new claims for state pension.

You are seriously saying the Government have instructed the DWP to withhold payments? To save money?

I mean there is plenty to lob at these idiots, but that borders on paranoia. It took us months to get all our stuff approved, but every cent was paid in several back dated lump sums, and they all arrive in the account on different days of the month, as 4 weekly payments.

It has always been a pain to get in contact with any agency, but when they get round to it, they are sound as.

Really? On Monday the manager said it was sent from their office to Newcastle approved. And still no word.

Unfortunately, if you want to be naive about how this government acts that is up to you. But plenty of court cases against the DWP have shown the government has acted illegally and refused to pay what people are due.

There is a gulf between cock ups and conspiracy. Like, without any prompting from us, out of the blue came a letter telling us that Mrs R had been placed into a different ESA block, and her payment nearly doubled as a result, with no review for 5 years.

Then her PIP payment was authorised, (and back dated to the day she left hospital), so I could claim Carers Allowance, again, back dated to the same date.

But Johnson is phoning civil servants or sommet.

Again really?

My claim was processed on the 8th of June - my friends was processed in March -but the final bit of the claim 'bank security details' - they phone you and get you to confirm your bank details for the money to be sent to - they never did the last bit to me or my friend. And I'll guarantee many, many others. It's like an electrician rewires your house and then does connect the wires to the fuse box.

Why? Is it an individual not complete the task thoroughly or a manager's directive to not complete the task, who will have acted on a directive from the secretary of state for the DWP? As the saying goes, follow the money. In the Tories case ,follow the hostile environment against those claiming benefits.

My friend got notification the day before their state pension date that their carers allowance would be stopped - very quick and thorough - because from May they'd have their pension. So they're left with no pension and no carers allowance.

"But Johnson is phoning civil servants or sommet". Really? Introducing something absurd to deflect. Now who is paranoiac?

You said that the Government is delaying payments on purpose, to save money. Tell me how that works when they have to back date claims to said date?
