Same as the famous Scopes Trial regarding creationism/evolution - meticulously planned in advance.

Thing is mate, it doesn't matter. Indeed, the fact it was well thought out, addressed a very obvious injustice, was well carried out and succeeded means it deserves applause. Planning is no reason for criticism.
Agree 100%. I never levelled any criticsism at all.
More a statement of fact that a few on here have
no idea about. Although they do know about everything
else ;)

Can be anything really. Just so long as highlighting racial inequality and violence is done in a way that doesn’t offend white people.

Look, it's pretty obvious, if you hate racism as much as someone like I does - and let me tell you it REALLY gets my goat when I see someone do some racism - then you'd be desperate for a very small gesture that creates incremental change over the next 4 or 5 decades too.

Did he?

What did he say?

I heard him say they never supported booing the England team and are committed to practical measures to combat racism.

Where was the lie? Admittedly I tuned in a bit late.

And my word, I do not misunderstand the importance of gestures - that's my entire point; how important it is when gestures don't work is as important as when they
There is a significant difference in the Prime Minister stating that he is “not supporting booing” and him coming out and condemning it. He said today that people who racially abuse footballers will be banned from grounds. Now that could be construed as a gesture as racial abuse is an offence and should be prosecuted.

Should it hell.

He's not supporting booing; he's simply not condemning it, as it's freedom of speech. It isn't racial abuse, that's just bloody daft.

Lol at this dweeb being big dweeb. Imagine aligning yourself with this bunch of dweebs.

Strong "know your place" energy from certain quarters...

As if Civil Rights and countless other protests haven't been dismissed and mis-characterised by their opponents throughout history. Pretty sure that most would have been seen as "divisive" because they made people uncomfortable - especially those who would rather not have a mirror held up to the society we live in.

Booing isn't speech though is it? At best it's ill-mannered and at worst it sends players the message that the fans don't respect them enough to allow them to engage in a brief moment of anti-racist solidarity.

The Human Rights Act covers freedom of expression and speech interchangably via Article 10.
