Thing is mate, it doesn't matter. Indeed, the fact it was well thought out, addressed a very obvious injustice, was well carried out and succeeded means it deserves applause. Planning is no reason for criticism.

I don't know how you come to the conclusion that my suggestion was against 'democratic debate'. Don't you think that in a debate it would be handy that the participants in the said debate had a scintilla of understanding of the issues involved ?
Not if the government of the day are the ones selecting debate participants, no.
The government should never be the ultimate arbiter of who speaks in parliament, for what should be fairly obvious reasons.

The government, due to the antiquated nineteenth century rules and traditions, constantly act in their own interests by using arcane procedures. In this instance it shines a light on the lip service that constantly spouts from the maw of this administration. I'll leave it there.

That's literally why the rule is in place that governments don't select debate participants and that's why we have the role of Speaker, but... OK I guess?
