Booing is just gesture politics. What does booing it achieve?

Youve spent the last year defending the people who boo, so it’s easy to see why anyone would come to that conclusion.
One event triggers the other.
So why don’t we talk about the constant dog whistling from the government that enables racism? How can you say Tyrone Mings is wrong in what he says, when it’s comments and behaviour like Patels that cause this a whole lot more than footballers kneeling.
I do. I think Johnson is a disgusting, provable racist. I think May's "climate of fear" immigration rhetoric, continued by Patel now, is ridiculous and creates a feeling of "the other" in society to hide their own failings. And so on.
But taking the knee does sod all to combat this and indeed exacerbates it. Why do you think the Tories aren't retracting? Because they know, electorally, that the knee etc. are a benefit to them. Not because the knee is unpopular with racists, but the whole environment around it is and the lecturing/broad strokes messaging is unpopular with an awful lot of people.
As for proof? You see Starmer and Rayner taking a knee and the Tories being the antithesis of that message, yet Labour are hopeless electorally and the Tories look unassailable. There's a reason for that, hence my frustration. You say I support people booing - but no, I merely understand it.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc

Voting intention polls. Starmer takes the knee 9 June 2020.

The relatively steep climb in polling from when he took charge effectively ends at that time.
Is it definitive cause and effect? No, as nothing can be, and the "new leader" effect can also diminish and be responsible for much of it.
However, is there any evidence whatsoever taking the knee helped Starmer? No. None.

Taking the knee wasn’t meant to help Starmer.

Ha OK, and I'm sure here he was just really interested in new wallpaper for his lounge.

... and Boris Johnson is the world's biggest football fan and did this because he just really supported the England football team.

Politicians only do photo ops for political reasons. He took the knee for that reason and that reason alone. It is what it is.
I’m pretty sure he meant when the footballers did it
Whilst we're in the middle of a conversation about Starmer taking the knee?
Have we had this yet?
