The replies are exactly the melting pot of "I'm not a racist, but!" gammons that you would expect.
It's great watching them turn on each other lol
"Wonder how many father's Day cards the pm got?" Lol

That really is baffling.
I can't imagine how that passed muster. I wonder if it required a Ministerial Direction, I would definitely want one before awarding the contract.
But people are concerned about the cost feeding kids
Civil Service does it again.....
It is a Minister's decision and their responsibility.
Did a minister, find this company, review its capabilities and then make out a contract for it. No. The Civil Service did all that and you know it.....
I think the way it works is that if something goes right it’s down to the tories and if it goes wrong it’s down to the CS.So what your saying is basically, anything that goes wrong it's not the Tories fault at all. Just clearing that up.
Civil Service does it again.....
Oh PeteDid a minister, find this company, review its capabilities and then make out a contract for it. No. The Civil Service did all that and you know it.....
Oh Pete
would you honestly discharge all responsibility of decisions like this whoever was in power ? Be honest , totally truthful now Pete . Because I’d criticise any government who was in power without reservation.
Civil Service does it again.....
Of course not. But all the grunt work, identifying suppliers, contracts etc etc are done by the Civil Service, that’s what they are paid to do. There are tens of thousands of them. of course a minister signs things off, but they do so on recommendation and advice by the same Civil Servants. I’ve no problem with the responsible minister getting a kicking, but there needs to be a line of responsible Civil Servants getting the same boot up the arse.......
What type of roles do you think the vast, vast majority do Pete?
The vast majority just do whatever job they are given, operational, process or whatever, the middle layers are supposed to bring management skills to bear and the seniors are supposed to make decisions and advise their ministers. there are nearly half a million civil servants. The number of junior roles diminish every year and the number of senior roles grows every year. There are about 150,000 at the bottom, 120,000 ‘executive officers’ 110,000 Higher Execs, another 58,000 in the highest levels including 6,000 Senior Civil Servants. But it’s got nothing to do with all of them gov, it’s all down to the poor schmuck who became a minister six months ago.........
