I still think white folk 'taking the knee' has taken the gesture out of its intended purpose and serves as a faux gesture by the ones who are the problem in America.

I don't actually believe I've known a government with such a majority to be so out of step with the general consensus of the average person. It was only a day since Johnson got handed his fat odious ass by Rashford, and now on the back of yesterday return of EPL and taking the knee. This pillock wades in with his far right sympathies...

They're pandering to their base. I know a lot on here (like myself) will be in a liberal bubble. As we have seen with brexit and the last election a large proportion of the UK population is either racist or don't care much for such liberal movements.

If any of this Tory government took a knee do you think they’d get a favourable reaction from the mainstream media or on social media?

Left wing media would crucify them for an empty gesture that’s not actually backed up by the governments actions whereas the right wing media would crucify them for bending the knee altogether. No sympathy from me here I just think this whole “take the knee” issue is ludicrous.

He was wrong and ignorant to reference Game of Thrones and his line about bending the knee for the queen and his wife was far too glib given the circumstances. But if he truly doesn’t think taking a knee is appropriate then he should just say so and people can either agree or disagree.

If this government did a publicity stunt that the democrats did in the US they’d be absolutely (and rightly) slaughtered for being massive phonies.

True. I think they believe they are creating the illusion to the less tuned in majority of the population that they are though.

I think Johnson will limp on till new year then quit. Hes not up to it and I think even he and the tory lunatics knows that now.

Oh not so sure about that. We have a Government uturning almost daily. They were evidently taken back by their foot soldiers last weekend. And back tracking on School meals would not have happened in a different context, and of course they are only delaying that decision in the hope that issue blows over.
