it’d be tough to blame any government for an economy tanking amidst a global pandemic.
I think that’s true but it is in fairness a slightly different point to the one that seems to have been asked .

Covid only got to tank the economy because of his (and his immediate predecessors) government though. Mistakes made in the handling of this combined with previous cuts to public health programmes, the NHS and others to mean they had to do what they’ve done, or they’d have that many dead that Johnson really would have ended up dangling from a lamppost.
If they’d prepared properly, taken better decisions and communicated better we could have had much less economic and individual damage.
If anything I thought Starmer was pretty poor.

In respect of the economy the only charge that can be laid at the Tories is being too generous with the furlough payments and following the medical advice regarding Lockdown duration and social distancing...and I’ve no doubt that most sensible people on here would actually agree with those policies......,
