So the people who are pushing for a Greener UK are doing so to feather there own nest?

I wonder who finances the MP's who are against Net Zero and the likes of the Republican party??
Don't give two hoots about Republican party. But walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck regardless of what it tries to sell you.

"Labour will take us back to square one" is the 2024 Tory election message. Saw it reported as something a Tory MP told a private meeting over the weekend and No 10 now briefing it's what Sunak is going to say at a Q&A today. It seems pretty weak (like most things with Sunak). As much as I hated it at the time, you have to respect the impact "Coalition of Chaos" had, and to a lesser extent "Strong and Stable" (May ruined the legacy of that one by being anything but).

But anyway, if he means that Labour will somehow get the country back to where it was before the Tories launched their assault on it with austerity all those years ago, then sign me up.

Indeed, this sounds like incredible progress

back to square one would be what? £800 Billion in debt in 2010 instead of £2.65Trillion now? I'd be amazed if they were that stupid, it's asking for the follow up question (that funnily enough has been asked here repeatedly) in that, in the 14 years of tory governance, what choices, what delivered has been in any way a positive by any metric whatsoever?
They've failed with every step, and rewarded themselves handsomely for such failure.

Sunak seems to be assuming the UK is in an amazing place and has made great reformatory strides in the last decade or so.

Lol.

Tory squares of doom! It sounds like a demented game akin to snakes and ladders, but much, much worse.

Keirs team.should have fun if that is what Sunak is running with.

It is, but do you think Putin would have invaded if Ukraine still had its nukes. Also while Russia blows up Kiev and the rest of the country do you think Ukraine would have held back on attacking Moscow in a similar vein…

Not sure what we were debating here @petebbut yes certainly having nukes is a deterrent but my point was that a principal factor in a country invading another is close geography and a chaotic history!

Also the post I was asking you to reply to was the one below please:

"Trade deals with Australia etc - estimates on the impact on our economy vary between 0.02% and 0.08% (governments own best case figures for next 15 years. Is that really worth shouting about?

Last can you please point to anything tangible that has improved for you since Brexit? Something that has benefited you in a noticeable way?"

I’ll bet not many people have noticed one way or the other. We didn’t ‘fall off a cliff’ nor have we found any sunny uplands. For me it’s the fact that only our voted for government gets to make the rules and things like our foreign policy, good or bad, is not dependent on Hungary or other such countries. Tbh that and not being part of a bureaucratic and interfering entity will do for me. We are more than capable of standing on our two feet, unless of course you don’t think the next government will be up to it……

I appreciate the answer but isn't it a fact that the likes of unelected Bank of England chiefs yield lots of power in the UK? And now we have a foreign secretary in Cameron that nobody elected?!

My kids are Irish so can study abroad as before but many English kids have less choices. And the impacts on trade across borders is a royal pain in the arse never mind hitting 3-5% of GDP! The next government will hopefully start to seal decent trade deals with the EU to reduce the barriers and narrow the economic impact to say 2-3%.
