Indeed. I just wish someone with some stones would explain the facts about UK immigration; they are not hard to find.
The illegals, which are a pinprick of the total, push the Govt narrative. Politically, I kinda get it. But the vast majority of immigrants are split pretty equally between adult students, (Y'know, medical students, teachers, that sort of useless stuff), and social care/NHS. Again, useless. (But both sectors would collapse without them.)
In a nutshell, and although I do not research this like @Bruce Wayne (married to an NHS foren) does, but I dont reckon I am millions of miles off the case. We need immigrants to make our society better/keep it working (sic).

I don't even like the term "illegals" tbh mate. Historically, under international law, anyone could claim asylum in the UK regardless of how they arrived (ie without a visa). This only changed in 2022 with the Nationality and Borders Act (you'll note that describing asylum seekers as "illegal" was common well before then).
The evidence on the matter is pretty clear.

The government shouldn't be trying to create a hostile environment or labouring over the processing of claims (during which time people aren't allowed to work and live in general squalor). Instead, they should allow people to integrate into society as quickly as possible.
Of course, this government don't really use evidence for anything, much less anything where they can realistically use a dog whistle instead.

Nor do I. But in the context of the point that should be made, its one that folk will recognise.
Its like Brexit in a way. No one bothered to explain the many benefits of EU membership; it was condensed into "Take back control" " Enough is enough" instead. Few in the public eye actually say immigration is vital to the UK. And a win win for all.
The birth rate in GB has fallen significantly in the last few years. In view of this, more immigration is vital. Thanks to Brexit, these immigrants will not be Europeans, but people from Africa and Asia. I'm sure the brexiteers, who certainly weren't motivated by racism, will be delighted by this.

I was actually quite impressed with Nick Robinson as Tory boy normally (client media), Yet he savaged her. After the interview, though, it was revealed that today's Minister put out to field media questions was giving interviews to only limited broadcasters, which didn't include the BBC. So cynic in me concludes it's beginning to dawn on Robinson that his love-in with the more vicious elements within the Tory Party is over because soft pedalling isn't granting access like it used to.
