I think we are probably looking at the end for the current version of the Conservative Party. And might well be as seismic as the split that occurred over the repeal of the Corn Laws. That saw the Tories out of power for about 28 years. Disraeli set in motion as to what became the foundations of what was the modern Conservative Party. Those foundations look to have been undermined and are at imminent risk of collapse.

That'll get through. There wont be enough rebels to take that down. He may be embarrassed by a revolt, but it won't be defeated.

As much as keeping the crazies on the Tory back benches sweet his game with this is to position 'Labour' as weak if they abstain or vote against it. Thats a tactic to share up blue wall waverers who might look at the Thatcherite leader of the opposition and be dissuaded to vote Tory next year and stay at home, or to actually vote 'Labour'.

They are only calling for it to be deleted because they have realised it has backfired spectacularly - a women dressed in blue in a Conservative tweet - the impression from the post is that it is a Tory giving the finger to the public.
