Net zero being tossed aside for votes, they vermin supported by vermin
They are on to something when we are all paying more on energy bills to become net zero, while on the other hand we have working people queuing up for food parcels while others get discounts to buy new electric vehicles.

It's pretty well established that the kind of skills in former mining communities cross over pretty well into clean energy skills. There's a big levelling up play to be had in net zero if the government was willing to grasp the nettle.

Yes, false equivalence politics will solve the climate crisis
Until there is much equivalence in the class system the climate crisis will continue to be crisis. Won't matter for many voters their lives are at crisis already if queuing up free food etc. I support fair few people to these food enterprise, yet to hear a conversation about climate crisis, many other things in our lives but not climate.

Ah revolution If Westminster can disconnect itself from the lobbying machine. Trouble is within hours of suggesting that they will be presented as antisemite communist spy, rinse and repeat.

They know they'll be beaten in the next election., They think if they can hang onto the gammons with policies like this and an anti-immigrant and neo-Brexit issue they'll mange the loss to get back into office when Starmer's right wing cabal bite the dust through their own internal contradictions.

I think that's the strategy from Tory HQ....win in 2029.

We shouldn’t be paying more for net zero though. That we are is an indication of how the system is broken - sensible things done now will result in lower energy costs very quickly.

Doing that would be an idiotic plan - Starmer is beatable now - but it’s precisely the sort of idiocy that they are most associated with.

Pretty sure when we just had a massive hike in energy bills it was nothing to do with Net Zero.

We are missing out on a massive growth industry, we need to embrace net zero and push forward to create a new sector and jobs for the younger generation who appreciate and realise the climate crisis and want to do something about it.

In the long run it will provide us energy stability and cheaper bills.

I think the best the Tories can do is to cut the stubborn lead 'Labour' has of about 20% - which will be whittled away in an election campaign of 4 weeks or so - and get it into hung parliament territory.

That's possible I suppose.
