Looks like she may survive even comfortably. Like most on here I wanted a tight result , I suppose maybe a even a razor think May win , which might have done the most damage but if it goes the way it’s looks I might have to try and take some minor satisfaction from the potential humiliation for JRM and Johnson’s wasted haircut .

If this was in normal times, I could understand that, but in these single issue days, pretty much, I just want this Brexit done as best it can be.

I remain to be convinced that further upheaval, or a new Government would actually help.

And Rees Mogg has just said he wouldnt stand IF there is a leadership contest.

Just rant and rave from the sidelines then the utter snake.

People listen to him purely because the media love him. Him and Boris Johnson are personality politics personified - charisma and controversy over substance and ability.

He's not an intelligent man. He's a classic case of born into privilege and someone destined not to fail through money and power, but he is really, really not an intelligent man. I wish more people would listen to the actual substance of his words and realised just how dim he is.

That is the thing though - the reasons for the backstops existence will still exist when it comes to discussing a trade deal, unless Ireland leaves the EU and rejoins the UK. It is profoundly dishonest of ministers and pro-May Tory pundits to claim that it will just go away, just as its profoundly dishonest to suggest we will have control of our fish stocks.

Didnt say it would go away, More that the EU might shift enough to remove the strait jacket style of it that currently exists.

It’s what happens next , I’m not absolutely convinced that this won’t get through . If she picks her way through this challenge then I just don’t know . I’ve never asked for it or even wanted it but If it fails I struggle to see how a second referendum doesn’t become a viable option because I don’t think no deal is in anyway practical.

The erg bhavr done their job.

She won't fight the next election and won't get the deal through parliament.

I’m pretty sure that they didn’t start a leadership no confidence vote to stop May standing in a general election in 2022 , I personally think after her last election showing it was unlikely she’d have stood anyway . whether the deal gets through isn’t impacted by this vote tonight surely ?

I want Boris as PM, he’d take no crap from the EU, if the deal is not good enough he’d walk away with a no deal, suits me fine does that.

Then he’d lose a general election to Labour for absolute certain, it’s all gravy for labourites if Boris got it.
