Joyous. He believed back in 2017, that cyber-security, terrorism and environmental issues were our greatest threats. He got it wrong. Thank god he wasn't voted in! He could have been our PM right now! Putin v Corbyn - we would be weaker for it.

The same deescalation of your beloved thatcherites? It's not hypothetical. It's now a reality.
If any country 'sends a nuke'... thankfully, it's not all over!!! There would be, hopefully, a process of moderation, escalation, deescalation, etc...
Hindsight is a wonderful thing... what could he have done to stop where we are now?
imagine bumphering through peppa pig. tsk tsk. There are tactical nukes of various sizes. The first modern-day nuke, hopefully never to be used, will not be the end of the world!
We are way past what could have been with Corbyn as PM. He could still be pulling his corduroys up, mumbling something about world peace, speaking of negotiations, while missiles are on the way to London.
As said, thank God he was never voted in. He could have been PM right now.
Is ok, when the army they've cut are so busy driving ambulances and the police they cant' recruit to fill those cuts when there's civil disobedience it'll go like a bag of catherine-wheels...He is pushing the country toward a general strike.
That's why we won't strike first. And why they won't strike first. Jezza wanted to take that card off the table.
Boris Johnson / Rishi Sunak have supported Ukraine. What would JC have done if in power?
Bruce will be making the appropriote irish connections as we typeMy Mum wouldn’t vote for Corbyn because, and I quote, “the scruffy get didn’t wear a tie at the cenotaph“ and a friend believed he was an actual member of the IRA

Pacifist, peace loving man who was friends with Ian Paisley was also definitely in the IRA.Bruce will be making the appropriote irish connections as we type
Sod it, shall we just give ye old communism ago, so?He wasn't linked to him, he appointed him as one of his key allies. Lest we forget, McDonnell was his shadow Chancellor in the photo below. If they don't want to appear like communists then it's perhaps good not to give a speech in front of photos of Lenin, Stalin, and Mao. I remember in London the local Momentum group co-ran an event with the local Communist party to push for a "shared socialist future".

You get the sense that all he did was wear a Donkey jacket and that was enough to tar his reputation. He and his supporters sadly didn't do enough to distance himself from the communist party and its ideology, which is perhaps partly why so many opposed him and we ended up with the nightmare that was Johnson.
The public were behind him. Well all the millennials and Gen Zers. We just all forgot to vote for the bloke! And, incidentally, as Labour leader he should have known that there are significant sections of the media who would be gunning for him no matter what, so it was incredibly naive politically to give them so much ammunition. Instead, he seemed to revel in the association and genuinely believe that the public was behind his plans for a more socialist Britain.
Brilliant comment. The truly maddening thing is that you'd never accept that sort of argument in any other context - for example, labelling all left and left-appearing opponents as communists is a common theme of the extreme right, including Nazis. Does that mean because you are doing it here that you are of the extreme right, irrespective of what you actually say, do, or believe?
Would the organisers not look to remove flags glorifying such men then? Rather than allow it to be waved right next to the stage? It certainly creates the impression that glorifying Mao and Stalin is acceptable. This is what I mean. The average person will just see a photo or video of McDonnell speaking at an event where a flag with Mao and Stalin on is being merrily waved. I'm fairly sure the hammer and sickle would be well represented as well. Yet we're not to believe that speakers at the event are in any way, shape, or form aligned with communism. That seems pretty naive to me.That wasn't an event which "glorified them"; it was May Day.
