That's why we won't strike first. And why they won't strike first. Jezza wanted to take that card off the table.

Boris Johnson / Rishi Sunak have supported Ukraine. What would JC have done if in power?

I think that's what Corbyn was saying wasnt it? And what a lot of the audience were getting hacked off about. It's just sensible to say no stroke first.

As for Ukraine, I have no idea. I'd hope he would have negotiated a peaceful solution, to have avoided the ridiculous oil/gas prices and avoided awful inflation, which has resulted from the war. There needs to be a resolution, that doesnt require ordinary people to pay the penalty again.

He also refused to answer if he would retaliate with a second strike. He refused multiple times to answer that important question. When pressed, when it comes to idealism vs. reality, he can't, or won't answer...

He believed back in 2017, that cyber-security, terrorism and environmental issues were our greatest threats. He got it wrong. Thank god he wasn't voted in! He could have been our PM right now! Putin v Corbyn - we would be weaker for it.

Well it probably wouldnt be his decision. But again, it's a hypothetical question, and frankly a ridiculous one that is likely to potentially inflame a situation.

But either way, it would be irrelevant, if someone sends a nuke, the world is over. His answer was correct, the only way to keep us safe is to diplomatically negotiate a solution in my opinion mate.

Well climate change is our biggest threat. What threat does Putin pose to us? He has attacked a none NATO, none EU country. It wouldnt be Putin V Corbyn, just as it's not Putin V Sunak. We are not at war with anybody, thankfully, as I dont fancy going to war. Weve have enough needless wars for one lifetime.

It's not hypothetical. It's now a reality.

If any country 'sends a nuke'... thankfully, it's not all over!!! There would be, hopefully, a process of moderation, escalation, deescalation, etc...

Hindsight is a wonderful thing... what could he have done to stop where we are now?

I think if someone sends a nuke, we are all done. It will kill farmland, and too many loose hands have them mate.

As for negotiation, more people following Macron/Schulz approach rather than Bidens may have helped. Maybe telling Zelensky he needs to engage with the idea of a peaceful solution. We cant afford these oil costs.

Under Lenin, real wages rose dramatically. It wasnt a utopia, but some context is needed. He shouldn't be lumped in with Mao and Stalin (who he vocally be vocally criticised) in my view.
Context is critical in every historic debate. Nobody is above historical criticism, and plenty can be said about Lenin, but looking at it with 21th century black & white glasses makes it too easy.

If we are nuked, should we return fire or do humanity a favour and surrender? That's the question. Forget England, Europe or the USA, what about civilization?
The question they asked Corbyn was irrelevant, not important. It will never happen. Even Russians like breathing.

There are tactical nukes of various sizes. The first modern-day nuke, hopefully never to be used, will not be the end of the world!

We are way past what could have been with Corbyn as PM. He could still be pulling his corduroys up, mumbling something about world peace, speaking of negotiations, while missiles are on the way to London.

As said, thank God he was never voted in. He could have been PM right now.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Mao and Stalin were psychopathic mass murderers and no mainstream British politician should ever be seen at events that glorify them. If Corbyn didn't want to appear communist then he and his inner circle and supporters should have steered well clear of these kind of things. Heck, given the notable support for Putin in the Morning Star, I'd question having anything to do with that rag either.

Well, yes. The Tories have been heavily implicated with Putin and there have been numerous accusations that Brexit was delivered in part by him. There have also been numerous accusations about Johnson himself and his links to compromised Russian figures.

That wasn't an event which "glorified them"; it was May Day.

It was irrelevant, but not in that way.

Our deterrent is independent of politicians. God forbid that (nukes launched at the UK) ever happened, but if it did the decision of whether or not to retaliate would not be up to the PM of the day. They'd (and we'd) probably be dead, and it would be up to some poor b*stard officer in a sub somewhere to decide what to do.

What strike? The two major players have thousands more nuclear threats than the uk singularly. uk nuclear weapons is a token gesture. to equate is to tell lies. Shambles.
