Probably…. If you go by what some posters on here say … personally I think he was what the country was crying out for

Fair enough, I can understand the wealthy wanting to protect their own interests , but the working class Corbyn haters were mental.

It was an orchestrated campaign. I’ve never seen a character assassination like it. Don’t get me wrong, wasn’t his biggest fan and he didn’t do himself any favours but he was 100 times better than the alternative.
We follow the US, and just attach ‘extreme left’ or ‘socialist’ to any policy we don’t like and people lap it up.
However, I reckon if he had of got into power, there would have been greater pushback against any Covid controls via the press leading to a fairly chaotic situation.

It might be fair to say that a significant number of the UK (English) are little c, conservatives. Not that they are cards in tories, more that they tend to be against radical change, are easily triggered patriots and have been programmed to hate anything attached or aligned to communism.
Corbyn simply presented an easy target for the right wing press and tories who identified multiple pressure points in the national psyche.
Let's just hope that the level of fume keeps building to the point that every man and has dog demands radical change as Lord knows, we need it.

the media have done that with most Labour leader's to be honest, the papers and media as a whole are run by very rich, selfich people, e.g. Murdoch and as you know it is in their interest to make sure people vote for the political party that is going to look after their own interests. They hated Michael Foot in much the same way because they feared him, because like Corbyn he was very clever and had the interests of ordinary people in his heart.

I was alluding to the uproar from the MSM when he dared suggest he would provide free broadband, in the same way, they did with the 4-day working week.
