Another rise in the cost of living.

Do Ofgem work for the Energy companies ?

It’s every man for himself now. Survival of the fittest. I’ve decided having kids probably isn’t for me. Living with your folks (albeit temporarily) at 35 isn’t really conductive for that.

If you can take advantage of this recession then you should. Me and my friend are planning to go halves on a house, renovate it, and flip it when the prices recover probably next year. I don’t feel very good about it tbh, but I’m sick of struggling.

That is so sad to hear mate, same with my son, he's 28, working not great pay at all, but as you know you need two decent paychecks to consider buying a house nowadays.

My situation was okay until I had a bad injury 2 years ago and I realised there is very little safety net. I was out of work for a long time.

I'm much better now and I will be okay, but a lot won't. I do appreciate the concern, though.

I left the U.K. couple of years ago. Never want to live there again tbh. The decline in the living standards in the last 10 years has been unreal.
But there are many working people who seem to be doing very nicely.
We were back in England last September and we were surprised the numbers of big new cars on the overcrowded roads, and people holidaymaking in very long haul destinations. Generally living it up.

It's not so easy these days for many.

My mother and stepfather are house hunting in France. They have the means to buy their way in (not completely sure on how that works). My stepfather voted for brexit and now wants out of the UK.

Can you believe it.
Not sure what you mean about buying their way in.
As far as I know any nationality can buy a house here, thing is, now after Brexit access to it is limited to 90 days in a year.
People can apply for a residence permit but that's much more complicated than before Brexit.
But he did vote for it. ?

For sure not everyone is screwed financially by any means and it’s not exactly hell on earth. I was working in debt and welfare before I left and all services were close to breaking point.

You’d be surprised how many big new motors are paid for on crippling finance deals as well just to keep an impression of prosperity.

They are doing ‘golden visas’ here in Portugal to encourage nomad workers. Have to earn a certain amount which is way over the Portuguese national average but about normal for a lot of European countries. Is causing chaos with the property and rent prices for residents. Have a feeling this will explode in a wave of anti migration soon. Unbelievably short sighted by the government.

The worst thing about this is the number of people that believed it. I had people in my work who had never voted Tory before, voting for them because they didn't want Corbyn to "take their money". The average pay of the people saying that was around £35k, madness.

They made Corbyn out to be the anti Christ and it worked. The average person in the street is very gullible unfortunately.
