I popped into the Royal last night and it was like a scene from a developing nation. I passed four corridors full of beds with patients on them. The staff were fighting to look after everyone but the stress was palpable. They have been let down. This is our new flag ship hospital for the city centre and it has 200 less beds than the old one. I suppose if they get there way not everyone will be able to afford healthcare so it probably has more than enough for their forecasts.
We have allowed a situation in which we are regressing as a society, it is absolutely crazy. Crooked MP's in the pockets of the banks and corperations are the new Barons and they have us all fighting one another - left, right, woke, snowflakes, LGBTQ, black, white, alpha, beta, men, women, brexit baffoonery. If somethig doesn't give soon we will be living in a dystopian nightmare with no way out.

It’s every man for himself now. Survival of the fittest. I’ve decided having kids probably isn’t for me. Living with your folks (albeit temporarily) at 35 isn’t really conductive for that.Absolutely this.
Personally, I think we are now too far down the road. It's too late.
The doctor I was speaking too, who was clearly upset, also said that as bad as things were at the Royal that on that night, that Whiston was even worse with their A&E so busy that there was an estimated 40 hour wait. I understand that this time of year is busier and there is a spike in flu and covid cases but you'd hope that we could factor in capacity to deal with such things. Apparently Whiston had people on beds outside under the shelter. Just not what you should expect from one of the worlds richest countries.Early to mid December Whiston Hospital was the same, was there with my Daughter, just awful, beds all full, right around the corridors, the Tories have won, the times in Hospital are 10 to 12 hour wait in A&E department, in that time you see a Triage for assessment. If you are poorly enough they then take you up to the tv room off the ward, we were there overnight, then after medication you are sent to a room for up to a full day with two other patients, only difference is the seats are bigger, a bit more comfortable and can be lifted up to stretch you're legs. Doctors do keep an eye on you and give you medication. Feel sorry for the Doctors, it's an unenviable task. My Daughter was given an overnight bed, next day she was advised to go home as she could be better treated at home away from sickness of people in the Hospital with medication.
There are too many comfortable with the status quo. That balance needs to tip the other way before anything meaningful or change happens. It'll take a generation in my view, but I think it's inevitable and until then, society gets sicker and worse and more dangerous as a result. It’s every man for himself now. Survival of the fittest. If you can take advantage of this recession then you should. Me and my friend are planning to go halves on a house, renovate it, and flip it when the prices recover probably next year. I don’t feel very good about it tbh, but I’m sick of struggling.
Sorry to hear about your mum, Tommy. I hope that she is feeling better soon.My old dear is in Whiston Hospital now, Pneumonia coupled with her long Covid and Covid induced asthma which meant her sats were dangerously low.
She spent near 48 hours in a corridor before she was admitted into a ward. There were multiple ambulances outside with patients waiting to come in; staff were going out with hot drinks for them.
I truly feel for the staff in there, we were told by a nurse that at one point there was only 2 doctors in the entire hospital. These nurses were subjected to everything from racism to being spat at. They're paying every day for this criminal government's (in)actions.
I think you’re right. Too many people can’t see the situation for what it is, or are too busy swinging their fists in pointless culture wars. There are too many comfortable with the status quo. I saw my grandparents at Xmas. Little Englanders in their 80s who have voted Tory all their lives. They do not marry up the issues that you describe (not any of the other issues the country faces today) as caused by the Tories.I think you’re right. Too many people can’t see the situation for what it is, or are too busy swinging their fists in pointless culture wars.
It’ll take more people dying whilst waiting for ambulances, more people starving to death because food banks have run our etc. for it to take full effect I think.
I'm supposed to be coming over soon, just in case, I'd best make sure I've got the best holiday health cover boxes ticked - you never know in these 3rd world countriesEarly to mid December Whiston Hospital was the same, was there with my Daughter, just awful, beds all full, right around the corridors, the Tories have won, the times in Hospital are 10 to 12 hour wait in A&E department, in that time you see a Triage for assessment. The petes of this world have no interest in making lives better (apart from their own) or righting wrongs, they are soley interested in ideological victory on every level. They don't care what the human or environmental cost of that will be as long as their ideology wins.Because they all piss in't same pot.
